And why ?
Plus a question on the 6" DD coil.
Is it like the Ace sniper coil that can get close to metal objects ?
I have the Xterra 305 and loving it.

Happy hunting

I have never used the 10 inch coil , but I really like my 6 inc dd coil. It is a very sensitive coil . It is made to get in between the trash and it does a great job at that. In order to get close to things though you will have to tuen the sensitivity down. That coil goes deep to be so small. I have a 9 inch 3khz on order for the deep silver and copper.

I use the 5 x 10 and the 6" DD both in 18.75 Khz. I like the seperation they have. The 5 x 10 covers ground faster and the 6" hunts the trash real well. I have been trying to get used to the 10.5 MF DD lately, i have used it before but not a bunch, it seems to be a real deep coil.

The 10.5 inch DD will "cover more ground" with each sweep than the 9-inch concentric coil. As to whether or not you'll obtain any appreciable depth compared to the stock coil is dependent on how mineralized your ground is. Granted, the 10.5 DD is larger than the 9-inch concentrics. But in my moderately mineralized soil, I can get more depth with the 9-inch concentric than with the 10.5 inch DD. I just have to remember to overlap my swaths a bit more with the concentrics. I try to overlap my swaths by 1/2 with the concentrics, and 1/3 with the DD's.

The 6-inch coils are both good coils. Personally, even though it is the higher frequency, the DD design simply allows it to separate targets better than a concentric coil. One of the things I do not like about the 6-inch concentrics is that it seems to be "hot" around the perimeter of the coil. When I get mine within a foot of a steel fence post or other large metallic object, it will detect it. Lowering the sensitivity helps with the adjacent interference. But it also reduces the depth of detection. The detection field of the 6-inch DD is more vertical and allows me to get closer to large metal objects than the 6-inch concentric. JMHO HH Randy
