You guys ain't gonna believe this....

on another well-known website a guy reports that TODAY 3 agents showed up at his door asking him questions about his post on that website regarding a TX cache. He bragged about knowing exactly where it was and was asking for help to recover it.

Let me explain something to the naive, ignorant, or gullible people
out there MD'ing. You don't ever brag about caches on the Net unless
you want to invite all kinds of possible problems to yourself. If you
don't believe this - ask the guy who found that large coin cache back
about a year or so ago.

Secondly, if you are unfortunate enough to uncover what this guy
claims to have uncovered - contact the authorities immediately. Or back right out of there and forget you ever saw the site. Otherwise you could end up floating with the fishies or with a columbian neck-tie!

You can see these posts under 'Cache hunting' and 'Treasure Leads' on
t-net by the same person. If you read the whole original thread - you'll see why someone in authority might be 'rather' interested in this particular story.

In closing, you don't know who is reading these posts or what software filters are being used to read all posts (looking for keywords/key phrases) on the Net.
A word to the wise is sufficient!

with the technology out there today - they can track you in a town of 10 million too. It's called IP address which leads to ISP. They call ISP and say we want the real address of so-and-so. Then it's real easy.

Of course bragging about carrying a small arsenal in the back of your car might spur some interest from some people too. Just not very smart.

Back in the late 80's a lake was drained and a young fellow whose main interest was in recovering artifacts from a WWII Army Airfield jumped at the opportunity of the lake being drained for the first time in 100 years and exposed a WWII aircraft that crashed into the lake and a lot of the aircraft was left on the lake bottom by the Army Air Corp.

Well, his picture was in the regional newspaper one morning showing with a big smile and holding up belts of 50cal bullets that were from the wreckage and the mangled aircraft gun that fired them.

The next day the Federal Bureau of Tobacco and Firearms (think that is the name) was knocking at his door for having in his possession a machine gun and live ammo.....................

Lessons learned, Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Hey Don, that wasn't down here in South Carolina was it? Seems like I remember reading about something similar about an old WWII airplane in a lake down here.

Well I have heard archaeologists and some nasty police service people monitor blogs like this one to see what they can find out. So if you post it here others will find out.

And there are even a few treasure hunters who will go onto your site if you say you are finding stuff and where.

My saying is "treasure finders keepers their mouth shut" if they want to keep it. Lets face it anything of value once had an owner if it is 500 years old and the governemnt may try to return it to them or keep it for themselves. We know longer have a king but sometimes our government officials / judges will act like monarchs because they have the power to do so.

It is not so much do they have a right to anymore but can they do it.

Now I am not suggesting illegal activities just for instance "how many astute businessmen announce publically they found a great price on some property". None. The great price will disappear.
