How often does Whites release new coils and detectors?

GarrettS

New member
Just a general question about how often whites comes out with new stuff? i am awaiting for the release of some new small coil that does better than the 4X6 (we can all wish) or some new design in coils.

Hi Garrett,s, If you want a small coil for real trashy areas the Whites 5" coil can,t be beat. It will pick out coins in the worst of trash. The 5" will go deeper than you thank. It is awesome. Good Luck Dean

Not a physically measured 5" coil, just like the "Shooter" isn't 4X6.

They do make a 6

Hi Monty, you are right Whites don't make a 5" coil, there 5.3, is the one i was talking about. But you can get a 5" Excelerator for the MXT, M6, DFX, That little coil is very good also. I don't think it will go as deep as the 5.3, but it will cut through trash unbelievable. Put the MXT in pinpoint and it will pick dimes layed side by side with foil touching them. Try it you will like it. Dean

You will love the Whites 5.3 coil. It's a great little coil. That's my first choice when needing a smaller coil. HH, Nancy

Thanks for the info. i am hunting tin iron infested ghost towns and my 4x6 can pick out small buttons, bullets, etc... ive been very impressed but was wanting to know from the experts what might be better than the 4x6, i was checking out the 5" excel. from kellyco...... or is the 5.3 better?
I found my first old coin at a promising ghost town but not with my detector i spotted it with my eyes on a slant in the ground, it was a V nickel. i was pretty excited just wish it was my detector that found it.
Ghost towns have been tough to hunt but i am learning very quickly due to its harsh conditions, someday it will pay off

is the "go to" coil that is attached when I pick up my MXT. I only take it off maybe 5% of the time in any given year for a larger coil for coverage at a beach, working a plowed field, or other target-sparse sites.

Yes, the 5" Excelerator is a dandy extra-small coil! If I am working a site that has a really nasty amount of trash, but it's not the type of site where I want to/can recover each and every trashy target, the 5" Excelerator can get it done. It isn't a coil most could use very much because the small size looks very diminutive way down at the far end of the rod, and you still need to overlap for best performance. However, if conditions warrant, this 5" coil makes an excellent accessory coil.

For most hobbyists, I think White's 5.3 Eclipse will be the way they would want to go as the 6

I feel White's has done a pretty decent job of providing a good selection for most model lines.

White's "Shooter" coil, an elliptically-shaped Double-D design, is a favorite of many, and the model for the MXT/M6/V3 can do a very good job at workign between targets, if they happen to be positioned side-to-side in the direction of the coils sweep. Fore-and-aft positions can still experience masking due to the coil size.

Certainly some search coil discussions can become more heated with loyal followers of one coil boasting its values over another group of coil supporters, and this is especially seen with regard to those whop favor the "Shooter" coil Vs those of us who like the 5.3 Eclipse better. Obviously, I am in the second group. :)

There are two or three reasons I prefer the 5.3 Eclipse coil to the "Shooter." First, the diameter of the two coils is somewhat similar, measuring the length of the Eclipse Shooter against the 6
