How to get a coin graded

E-TREC-Virginia

Hi All.

I have 2 coins that I would like to get graded (1834 Bust Dime, 1847 Seated Half Dime), but I'm not sure exactly how that is done. Do you need to send them to a grading service/company like PCGS or NGC or can you take them to a local coin/hobby store?

I know PCGS and NGC have a per coin fee (based on the estimated value) and a minimum # of coins. I really do not want to spend like $50.00 for coins that may be worth between $200 - $400.

Thanks and HH.

check ANACS, a lot of times they have specials for lower value coins. I have used them from my 1916-D merc, and I also used them for the 1877 indian that I bought

if you go to the website, you print off a form, fill it out and send them in. They give you directions, they also have a 1-800 number to call and talk to them

ANACS is a good place to send the coins with quick turn around. I sent in a wheat penny and with all the shipping and insurance the cost was around $50.00. Shipping is what gets ya.....

Thanks guys for pointing me to ANACS. Compared to the other grading services I've looked at, their rates are less but their turnaround time is equal to or better. Definitely going to use their service.
