How to hunt it?

I know of a park,that i am sure has a few old coins,but,one side of this park has a creek going around it.
and it runs into a lake on the other side.
The problem is that this park gets flooded,and it has been flooded several times,for 6-7 months at a time!
I went there after the last flood went down finally,and there was like three inches of mud on top of everything.
it was left and the grass just came up through it.
I wonder how many times this has happened over the years.
My uncle worked for the city there,and while they were repairing a bathroom,doing some backhoe work there,he found two halfdimes.
I have been over this and cant seem to find the old silver that i know is there.
I assume it is just too deep,due to all the flooding over the years!
This area was once a trading post,and an old town was here.
Some one found an old ball and chain in the creek once!
There was civil war activity here also.
Maybe try a LARGE coil sometime.

I remember onetime this park flooded,there were so many night crawlers on the highway they were having auto accidents.
They had fire trucks down there washing the road off.

Bob... the first thing id say is never never ever show your location where you might find old targets. Before you know it everyone will be hunting it.... and you just might get the attention of city county or historic people that would try and keep you out. What size of coil you using now? If its not a pro or SEF then i would get one. Otherwise id recommend slow hunting it and digging those deep signals especially the ones that bounce around. Reduce your IM to say 28.....boy id dig about everything in an area like that. Things do change... soil, wind, rain, roots, leaves and freezing all affect depth of a target. This movement doesnt always move coins deep thats why sometimes you find surprises just a couple inches deep and go wow.

It may have flooded more or less historically depending on how the water way has been changed by man. Usually people tended to find a good spot but it soon floods after a couple seasons and they are forced to find one on higher ground. I have no luck around river bottoms. If they had a beach type area you might be able to find it by looking for trail ruts. Otherwise picture yourself there before anything else was built and look for areas of flat ground that are high and therefore dried out sooner than the lower areas so were more likely to have people hang out there. It looks like bulldozers have been all over the area making ball fields and high ways maybe the stuff is under that stuff. The high water could possibly make stuff sink faster i don't know.

I have hunted this area hard,low and slow,even talked to the historical society people,
they have a building at the edge of the park.
They were very nice.
They even let me hunt around their building,it was an old jail at one time.
People are getting the idea that i give good locations away,well,i usually don'tbut this area bugs me
I know there has to be some good stuff there,it is just too deep from all the flooding.
I have talked to several good metal detectorists,some are on here,that have hunted this park.
None of them say they have ever found an old coin there.
But i will keep searching it,occasionally.
