How to tell time while MDing...

Someone wrote, "Wishlist: A clock on the (metal detector) display. Yes, I wear a watch and have a cell phone with me at all times but being that you spend a decent amount of time looking at the display, a clock would be a nice addition."

That is a good idea. Yes as we know a wrist watch interfers with the MDer coil when pinpointing SO yes a very simple digital clock built on to a metal detector screen is an ACE idea. That could be turned on and off but still run. How about a cell phone built into a metal detector and piped to the headphones.

ALSO I have attached my wrist watch around the MDer shaft which also works real good. It could be attached around the belt or the watch band threaded through a top shirt pocket button hole or just kept in your pocket which may fall out unless you have a zipper to button to prevent this.

OR another idea is to wear this type of Nurses FOB Watch that pins on the front of a jacket or shirt, they are commonly used by nurses and other medical professionals who can not wear wrist watch for a variety of reasons.

I like these, especially the silicone ones:

I have a G Shock watch and it doesn't interfere with my coil. When I was a kid and we would head up for a couple weeks in the MT mountain, my dad wouldn't let me take my watch...forced me to use the sun and shadows to get a good wag on the time...still pretty much my main method today.

clock from an auto parts store. He justs stuck it on the side of the machine head and it works perfect..

I don't understand, how does a wrist watch interfere with pinpointing?

Not when a person is standing up when pinpointing with the coil. But rather when a person gets down on his knees and puts his wrists(with the metallic watch) close the the coil when pinpointing with dirt in each hand or with a plastic scoop.

Wow that "XP Deus" is sure an amazing hI-tech detector! Google it and have a look at their website!

You are right, a stick-on digital clock with an adhesive back! I had a small one before, I forgot. Stick it on the detector housing.

A G-Shock watch and doesn't interfere with the coil you said. I looked it up, it is made by Casio. I see, it is just about all plastic. Must be less metal than my Timex Indiglo. Yes the sun and shadows to get an approx read on the time is right. Like each finger is about 15 minutes at arms length.
