How well do coil plugs work?

Do they add much weight? Pop out at all?

Never even heard of them until watching the Exploring the Explorer vid recently.

But, if they work well, I could see how they could be handy. I get tired of branches poking through the coils when getting into the brush. (Which I try to hit a lot of times figuring others don't go there as much.

Basically you just pop them into the holes of the 10.5" coil, they will fit snuggly and will be hard to remove (but not impossible). Most buy them when they deal with lots of branches and twigs close to the ground, or tall grass, etc. They're really nice, and for $18 you can't go wrong. Just remember, these are NOT for the SE coil, just for the Exp.II/XS ~

they actually make the Stock Coil Glide across the Grass a lot easier than without them. This way there is less Resistance on your Swing, which in turn saves on your Arm and Wrist. I even have an Explorer 2 Coil for a back-up and that also has the Coil Plugs also. Worth Every Cent!!! Good Luck and HH.

Anyone know of a solid coil cover that will fit the Slimline 10?

I checked over in the SunRay forum and Ralph said they will not be making them for the Slimline 10" so I'm trying to think of alternatives. Ought to be another manufacturer that has a coil that size. (though perhaps not close enough)

Thanks for the comments. (James, I recently purchased an old Coinsearch coil for my SE and noticed how much easier it glided over the surface!)

At least I'm sure that is what you meant. I don't think they ever made a Coinsearch Coil for an Explorer? But Yes, you are right about how much more smooth it is gliding across the grass. Less drag and saves on the arm and wrist. Good Luck and HH.

I meant for my Sov. I liked the way that coil was slightly convex--almost felt like it was on wheels.
