I'm going to college with my E Trac now. I had been hunting parks, sidewalks, schools, and such for the last year with the E Trac. I learned a lot so I thought. Actually what it schooled me in was what good flat semi trashy sometimes targets would sound like and TID at. Easy, very easy! In the last 6 weeks I have changed the places I hunt to increase my quality of finds. "Location, location, location" as it has been said. I've along with my two hunting compadres started hunting old home lots which the houses have been dozed down and are very old places. The college course is actually very easy in that I understand what to look for and what to listen for as this type hunting unfolds with every trip we take. The definition of slow takes on a new meaning for me. What I have found is that more than likely any hint of a coin or jewelry is most of the time a good target. This new style of hunting for me is actually simplifying what I thought was pretty hard for a few trips. With the advice on another forum from a superb ET user I have switched to long tones to capture what I just might miss hearing otherwise. Man it works great! Some of these old home lots are so trashy in spots you have to go frozen mollasses slow
but the finds are worth it. The machine really shines when you are moving at that speed and it picks out a lot of targets while in a null. The accepted target. For us 7 silvers and a good almost double handful of wheat pennies in that time frame just about surpasses what we have found in the last over a year older coin wise. Not as easy down here in the deep south ya'll. The amazing part is that I am digging good targets from the same very general area as I gain more experience with the machine in the deep trash. I'm using muti tones and I almost think it is too trashy for 2 tone ferrous if that can be. This is dang fun and interesting and the learning curve gets steeper. Can't wait untill daylight in the morning.
