Did some tot loting today. It rained yesterday all day so it was wet and cold today. I called it a day after 3 hours because it was getting colder and colder.
I don't know what these guys that hit these tot lots are looking for but they sure are missing a lot of good stuff. I followed behind someone in the 3 lots that I hit. I could see open holes and trash next to the holes. The first lot I hit I only got 1 coin a penny. That guy was good. He left open holes and trash. Other 2 lots I found open holes and trash but near the trash I found good signals. Some open holes had coins in them or near them. Nickels were all over the place. So were pull tabs.
When you go to a tot lot and see signs of digging don't assume that someone was there and got most or all of it. I always go into one of those lots to see just how good the guy was. Most of the time he missed a lot of stuff.
Anyway here is what these guy/guys left behind..... Happy Trails......Z

Yeah, those totlots sure do tell some amazing stories about who is in the area and how good they are. Seems everyone hits the obvious locations, but seldom does the "field" get a good sweep.
At least with the totlots, a guy knows pretty quickly if its a goodun' or not. I'm torn on the subject of does a guy take all the little pencil ends, foil, zippers, and whatnot out of there, lets say a fellow hits them every so often, probably best to leave some of it there? Sort of as "reference points"? Sort of nice to know if somebody hit it between the last time you did? and if they are high grading, or really working the foil...One thing, some guys DO get it all out, right down to the little rivets, and you'd swear your headphones had come unplugged or something...Nice Work there Z! I was hoping you were out heading for that 7K.

Three more outings and you should hit the BIG 7000, at the rate you are going. Once again, gotta love those knee bends. Good luck on the 7000. HH jim tn

CO I am years behind in paying for my detectors with my finds. If I wasn't so goofy at getting detectors I probably could get a detector paid for with my finds. I have had 8 detectors in the last few years. The only thing I can say is that I am getting to really know what I want in a detector. I am paying for the clothes to be washed with the quarters I find...

Mud I am in the same boat on picking up the trash these guys leave. If I dig a real deep target and it is trash I put it in my pouch along with glass and nails. Something the kids could get hurt on goes into the pouch. I hit some tot lots many times during the season and see the trash just sitting there. I don't think I want to help these guys run through a tot lot picking up coins and leaving the trash for me to pick up. They don't even cover their holes. I do cover their holes with the trash in the holes again so they will have to dig it up again. When I get back to the lot there will be a hole and the trash will be on the side again. I don't have to dig most of the trash it is on top of the ground next to a hole.
Jim snow tomorrow for us. It could be very close to season being over soon. We are long over due for snow and it has been a long good season. I am thinking if I can get 3 more good hunts I could get to 7k. If not it still was a great season.
This winter I will add up all the coins that I have found since coming back to detecting. I will just add to that total from now on. Too much pressure!!!! Just enjoy hunting....
Thanks guys and Happy Trails.....Z

Pressure??? What Pressure. The only pressure I see you having is explaining to your spouse, (or cat) why you bought another detector.
Seriously Zeek, you have to hit 7000. As Bart said....one coin at a time.

Even if one of us has to come over there and wheel you around on a floor dolly, Even if you have to toss a handful of change over your shoulder, even if you have to tip over the Salvation Army Kettle, its really getting cold now.. Good Luck!

Congratulation on all of your finds. I would like to ask you a question if I may. What is your go to machine when hunting Tot-Lots? Thanks in advance.

Bart it is close.
Neita sometimes I am out there in the rain. Wet and full of mud thinking to myself I am 70 what the hell am I doing out here? I have 2 recliners at home that could offer me much more comfort and pleasure. Instead I am out here under pressure to find 7,000 coins. What a waste of good recliners. Some of my detectors I might say didn't exactly go over to easily here. There was a lot of discussion on what I could of used that perfectly good money on besides detectors. :stretcher:
Mud I think you will have to come over here because there is not much interest in getting out today. It is still in the 20's and wind is cold and strong. It rained/snow most of yesterday so lets add wet to that. Cold, wet, windy!!! A dolly that is heated would be needed to cart me around. Gad zooks. I am supposed to be normal?
Coinseeker thanks. I go to the F70. I like the F70 the most because it is a good all around detector. It is easy to use, set up and very functional in different sites. I have never been at a site that it didn't work. I have been at over 80 different sites using the F70. I use the 6" coil almost all the time. It is great in tot lots and it is also great for swinging all day in the fields. The depth is good also with that 6" coil. You have a very good detector. Thanks for replies.... Happy Trails....Z

lol
I didn't get out today again but I am planning to get out tomorrow and the next few days so will really be trying to pick up enough to get to 7K. Best season for me so far. Thanks and Happy Trails.....Z
