I am really impressed with the new type coil covers Fisher has..

The snap on is a big improvement..I just got a new Fisher F75 SE/LTD with the new type cover....

Don't know how long they have been out.. My F75, My Camo 75, and My T2, all had the old hard to put on and remove formed coil covers ... The new is a breeze to put on and take off for cleaning..

I've never had or used a coil cover, except for a plastic bag from the grocery store over the coil when detecting in snow to keep it from balling up on the fins and really weighing a fellow down...What is the general opinion? Are they necessary, or sort of like floor mats in cars? Not really needed, but a good idea to keep the original equipment in good order? Just wondering if I might damage my coil without one, or just swing away and not overthink this...

The coil that comes on the F75 and gold bug are so robust and well built, they don't need a cover.

Sounds like an easy on and off cover set up. I've tried covers a couple of times, but getting them off was more trouble then they were worth. I don't use them and never messed up a coil. Todays coils are pretty tough. HH jim tn

Coils are expensive.........Covers are cheap.. No right or wrong really..You either use them, or you don't.


I kinda always thought of that old car commercial repair ad................. "Pay me a little now". or " Pay me more a little later"..So I started using the covers..


Mud you can go for years and not need a cover.Or you can go out later today, swing over something, and 'BAM" you damaged the bottom of your coil......


Mark your correct...they are robust..but not indestructible....In Some areas a cover would benefit some in my opinion..


I just posted my post complimenting Fisher on the new design............... Didn't really intend to endorse, or not endorse coil cover usage.. LOL

Has nice flexible clips made into top of the mold on cover.............. in different areas around the cover Very poorly done white arrows point to some of the clips.. Keeps cover snug on the coil too.

Yep, I give you a D- or F on arrows, but we will let you slide this time. Looks like a pretty good system, much improved over the old style. The coil cover I bought for mine cracked and I have been hunting without a cover.

Wish I had a coil cover for my Old Fisher 1265X I bought in the 80's it had thousands of miles on the coil from swinging close to ground late eavning hunting in Old fair grounds. Now the coil looks like it went through WW2 lots of wear and looking pretty thin at the bottom.
