I am thinking of buying a detector for my son

I am currently hunting with a DFX and am looking for a detector in the $200 to 300 range that is simple to use (my son is 10 years old) but will still have the capability of making nice finds of deep coins, etc. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

The answer to that is simple - the 250. For less than two bills you get a detector that is easy to learn and use, light as a feather, simple to pinpoint with, and performs right up there with the big dollar machines. If you get one you may find yourself parking the DFX and using your son's detector. :) Has happened more than a few times with guys using expensive machines. Good luck on your choice. Glad to see you getting the boy started early and what better hunting partner.

I've been a coin hunter for 10 years, and this new, light machine is just incredible. It finds lots of coins so easily. I have never seen so much technology packed into such an inexpensive machine that just won't quit!
