Is anyone having any trouble carrying on MD's on airplanes??? I'm taking a trip soon and don't want to get to the airport and have a snag. Has anyone been denied? Thanks.

Chris

a couple of time with my Explorer and Periscope packed in checked luggage with no problems.

Haven't used it this trip yet. Hope that changes this weekend.

Chris

Anybody in CT or RI private message me.

no but follow there rules when carrying on:
1) have no batteries in the machine - remove
2) have no tools with machine like a screwdriver or they'll take it away from you.
note: I use a Pelican hardcase which works great!

Used my Xterra 70 there. I like that I was able to remove the computer (most delicate part) and bring it in my carry on without batteries along with the manual so if there was a question as to what it was they could see it in print. The rest of the unit, coil etc went in the luggage. I have brought my DetectorPro with me to the Carribean for the last 4 years in my checked luggage and never had a problem. The TSA has inspected my bags a couple of times without me present since I found the little notice they leave in the bag when done. Never had a problem of anything missing or broken.

I am a pilot, with all the relevant security badges etc, but security would not like me take my ExII through security. No batteries, no shovels, and fully stripped down.
I had to drop it in at our check in desk, and then pick it up from the baggage handlers. I have a crash axe ner me on the flight deck, yet could not carry my detector.
So it will depend on where you are, and how bloody minded the security people are. In theory there should not be a problem, but you just dont know.

I've flown with my MD's a couple of time with no problem at all. I check in all equipment and make sure there's no batteries in them. To ease the mind of those doing the inspections, I put a note in the bag explaining what they were. One time I got a "thank you" note back :)

Just tell them softley that your name is Osamma and that there is no bomb inside and I think from past experience you'll be fine.:heh:

Earlier this year I flew to England, checked one and carried one aboard, had no problems either way on American Airlines though they were a bit rough on the checked bag put a dent in the hard case breaking part of the locking mechanism.
