I can not believe, that Garrett is going to have another season with the same stable?!

I have said this so many times in the forums. I can not be the only one who wishes Garrett, would come out with a new Top O" the line machine.
How many ways can they put out brochures to make the 2500 seem like the best thing since sliced bread.
I have to keep my GTAx-1250 another season. I use a Sovereign GT, but I also like to have a machine with all the trimmings and ease of use. I have this thing in my mind telling me to keep a Garrett as one of my two machines. They are easy to use and easy to lend to a landowner who lets me detect his property and wants to try out detecting himself. I like my 1250 since it is good to use as an initial sweep over a new site to see what the conditions are like.
But, I so badly want something new from Garrett. Something lighter, faster, deeper, and more stable. I wish Garrett would make a three frequency machine with some of the other trimmings all wrapped up in an easy to use light weight design.
A new Mine detector is not what we are looking for Garrett.

take care
Jason

I wish Garrett would come out with some new equipment too. Please email them with your request.....and so should every one else!

Yeah we should start an email campaign to get their attention. They are long overdue for something new. The 2500 is twelve years old ( I field tested it in 1996 or 1997).

How old is the 1350? ACE 250? Meaning how long ago were they released by Garrett?:garrett:

I have to add my "me too" to this thread. I used a GTI-1500 as my main land machine for quite a while but I broke down and bought a Teknetics T2 last autumn and although I really like Garrett machines the 1500 has been demoted to backup status. I sure wish they would do an overhaul on the GTI line - it is way past due.

Those new Teknetics and Fishers are hot rod's out there ! I can see where we are all getting restless waiting for a new detector form old Charley. You never know may be it's been twelve years in the making ! Whenever it comes out you better bet it will be a good one !

If you look at the last 2 products Garrett came out with lately (propointer and PI mine detector) those are some great products and the mine detector is a badass looking detector, wish I could get my hands on that one. So it goes to show you Garrett is busy at work and I believe they will come out with something very kool, hopefully a new top of the line machine.

I would like to see a top line detector with higher freg using the grounghog circuit that is 15k for more sensitivity to low conductors with the power of the GTI 2500 in all metal and some expanded Imaging like a fishfinder type Image or something like it to actually see the shape and and size and best Image possible on the screen of target. What else is there to do? Minelab has done about everything you can do with multiple freq's, so it is up to Garrett to continue the Imaging tech.

I too would like to see a new state of the art detector by Garrett. I have a 2500, 1500, and looking at the new safari by minelab. 3 detectors are enough for anyone.{so says my wife}.That could very well by last detector. Anyone know a good divorce lawyer/

I sold my GTI 2500 and went to a Minelab Safari. I am digging targets about two inches deeper on the average than with my 2500. I loved the depth and size indication on my 2500, but I have a nagging back injury and the 2500 is so darn heavy it hurt me to use it. I predicted that Garrett would come out with a new lineup at the top a year ago, but it never happened. They are going to have to shed weight, gain a multifrequency function and keep up with times. I use to rate Garrett #1 but now I'd have to say #4 behind MInelab, Tesoro, and Whites. Sure I would consider going back but they are going to have to make some drastic changes. Onus

I have my doubts when it comes to multifrequency.. more is not necessarily better. I DO think that Garrett ought to be looking at a higher frequency unit.. Groundhog anybody? It would be even better if a new higher frequency detector could use the old coils. The imaging is a great feature and Garrett should really try to get a smaller imaging coil out. Even if it's 7", that's still better than the garbage can lids they have out now. Barring that, they outta enable profiling when an imaging coil isn't being used. Also, bump up the maximum SAT speed and improve the ground tracking. Testing the GTI 2500 over some really bad ground on the Similkameen river showed how limited the detector is. One big hotrock and the GB went all outta whack. The MXT, on the other hand, had no problems, regardless of sensitivity setting. Two other things that would help are trigger style PP and a smaller form factor for the display.. I don't want to haul around a color TV set when hunting. The GTI 1500 is better in this regard and a numerical depth reading would work fine.
Back to the multifrequency bit, a switchable low/hi frequency wouldn't be bad at all, though look at the f75/MXT.. they seem to do just fine with a single high frequency. It seems that modern detectors aren't as greatly affected, depthwise, as one would think when using a high vs. low frequency. Might as well stick to high since that's the direction the hype seems to be going. Getting rid of the green color, while not affecting operation, might satisfy the idiots that judge a detector's performance by it's color. Don't know about you guys, but reading posts where people are whingeing about the green color reminds me of those home decorating shows with the gay interior designers; "What a HORRIBLE color, it just CLASHES with the Peony applique border strip! And mauve? Honey, catch me.. I feel faint." ..Willy.

I wouldn't be surprised if they adapt a 5 size profiling feature next, given that the 1350 is the latest technology. It would overcome the limitation of the GTI and give greater coil choices. I don't think that they will make a big change in a detector, but rather smaller steps.
Mick Evans.
