Hard to compromise with persons who tell untruth's. If anyone can tell me where I can get $35 each for fired CW bullets, please let me know and I'll give you $5 for each one I sell, and I do not normally sell my relics! Without question, I can say I have never seen any fired CW bullet bring that kind of money. And to publicly state that amount is a regular thing on the Internet is...well, a lie in my humble opinion. Lawmakers usually have little experience or interest in the world of relics and history, and get misled by over zealous "public servants" all the time. This makes about as much sense as claiming "all arrowheads found on top of the ground should be left there...they are sacred objects!" BS!!! 99.9% of all prehistoric relics were simple tools, not sacred objects. Furthermore, most tools were used to defend, hunt/process food and survive in a harsh world. The Gods the prehistoric Native Americans worshiped were multiple and not OUR God of the bible. But somehow we're going to find a way to shove our beliefs down history's throat; like it or not. I humbly suggest anyone interested in saving this way of life (hobby?????) do not bash the Archeologists, they are far too educated and above we insignificant specks. Instead kindly help educate our Lawmakers. Knowledge is key. Help them understand the good side of metal detecting, and how many research books have been published by ammeter Archeologists/Detectorist's. I've yet to meet a Archeologist who could identify a Prussian bullet from a Tom Green Carbine bullet. Not due to ignorance; it's just not their area of expertise. And, if it were not for the excellent books published by our "founding Fathers" of metal detecting, we'd all be scratching our heads and grasping for nicknames (the way it originally started). There are already firm laws on the books pertaining to trespassing and digging in Federal/State ground. If Archeologists would turn to the metal detecting community (some actually have) they could achieve a lot more, and get more volunteer's than they could use. I site The Little Big Horn, Shiloh, Chickamauga and Murfreesboro (Stones River) Nat'l Military Parks as an example where thoughtful, forward looking Archeologists called on Detectorists to research and retrieve artifacts in the name of sound record keeping and history. Good hunting, David @ Dixie
