I have a X-Terra 705 Gold Pack on the way! Should be here Mon. Or Tuesday. I've posted here a couple of times asking questions and have been reading and researching for 2-3 months. Well..I finally picked up phone and ordered one. I am super excited about it. I have used Tesoro's for 5-6 years. Good detectors and will keep'em but the abilities and capabilities of this Minelab 705 has really got me excited. CAN'T WAIT! Thanks so much to Digger and many of you other guys for invaluable info. here on this forum. I downloaded Digger's book today and really started reading it seriously. Talk soon with questions and reports probably.
 
I got my 705 gold yesterday afternoon..got about 5hrs with it so far...after the X30... I'm humbled!
I would of found 8000 quarters in 5 years with this machine.. it is a quarter killer/ $8 worth so far from the same place i hunted many times before,,,big difference from the X30/more things to remember/buttons to push
 
Tired Rooster, I too am a Tesoro convert. Be patient, it is slightly different but takes only a short time to get used to it. I still have a Cutlass II and I sold my Toltec100. My search to find ratio has increased since the change, I'm sure yours will too. I think that the big change was going from concentric to DD coils, the target sounds different.

Good luck, I'm sure you will be glad you bought a 705!
 
Congrats, you'll like it. I too, just ordered another Xterra 705 Gold Pack edition after trading my first one towards a Safari, then trading that towards an Etrac. Due to physical injuries, and age, the Etrac is a little too cumbersome and I'm probably one of few who feel it really isn't that much greater a machine than the Xterra 705. Time will tell if I keep or sell the Etrac.
 
I also have the X-TERRA 705. It offered most everything I was interested in and so far has delivered.
A big feature for me was the ease of handling because of my health. It is way easier to handle than my old Garrett .
