Aside from being a fellow Nebraskan. Neswiper was one of the guys instrumental in getting me into detecting period. Sadly he did not really go all out this year. Started bowling instead. He's a good bowler too I might add. I learned much from him, Dan (OhioCoinHunter), Vidslayer, and a few others.

Ah, that explains the bowling videos. Looks like he's pretty good at that too.

I don't know what he was doing, but that video is plain FALSE. Don't believe me? Put your E-Trac into pinpoint and wave a nail in front of it for yourself.

When I saw this for the first time awhile ago It didn't make sense to me either.

I have yet to have a nail not hit in pinpoint mode.As a matter of fact a large nail will cause a smaller target to not hit at all after passing over the nail in pinpoint .

Even in Sizing mode? Not near my E-trac right now, but I think that sizing mode pinpoint doesn't detune when going over adjacent larger targets. One of the reasons I prefer using sizing mode.

which I do not care for when hunting old coins .The E-Trac still hits a nail in sizing as well but it hits on the edge of the coil on shallow iron while hitting conductive targets in the center strip of coil.If you play around enough you might be able to use the method in the video on 3" to surface targets but I could never gain any faith in it after testing it several times.
I think it makes for a neat video but was not effective for me in the field.Under very controlled circumstances it does work as shown. It is one of those things best tested by each individual for their sites and style of detecting.
