I tried the TTF pattern with the 6" EQ2 coil the other day, and I was totally blown away...I would get a iffy hit and knew iron was in the hole, but I would also get a good tone with the iron...I would dig, and sure enough...The iron would be there, then I would rescan the hole and get the good signal...Dig a bit more and find the coin...I love it!

Nice Robert! The more you practice with TTF, the more you will like it. There have been countless times when I made a find out of a "hunted out" area simply because TTF was able to catch it. I don't usually hunt in TTF, but you can't beat it on the right site. HH -Marc

Is it just something you have to get used too? Seems like every time I try it the noise from trashy sites just drives me crazy, or am I doing something wrong? I seem to only be able to handle it about ten minutes and go back to conductive.

Same here... I never use TTF anymore because it seems like multi-conductive gives me so much more information. Especially since I'm primarily a coinshooter. TTF just doesn't make sense for me.

I thought the same thing until I gave it a chance...It is a LOT of ear music, and CAN drive you nuts, but if you want those coins being masked by the iron, or if you are in an area you KNOW has old coins and masked by iron and you wan to get them all, this is the way to go.

The reason your hearing more sounds is because your using very little discrimination. When you discriminate in multi tone your machine nulls out and you miss anything that might be close to what your detector is nulling out. In TTF your detector is nulling out very little so you are hearing good targets close to bad ones. Its not for every area. If you have a lot of non ferrous trash such as pulltabs and aluminum its not that good but I hunt a lot of old yards where most of the trash is ferrous and it is great there. Try hunting in multi tone with no discrimination and then tell me that is easier than using TTF using no discrimination.
