I feel like a coward.......

I do not like to metal detect if people are around. I really like to hit public places real early before anyone shows up. After seeing this guy I feel like a coward now....;o)

good to see ya here. Don't feel bad, most guys don't care to be that close to a lot of people. I also do my beach hunts early. Mostly because I don't like all the people in my way. The same fear of asking to detect a place is in most guys!

People being around don't bother me. Personally I would not have hunted in such a crowded place. I have been to parks and a beach where I had to pick and choose where to detect. I look at it as an opprotunity to educate people about our hobby. Metal detecting ambassador, that's me.

I really don't feel that way, I was kind of joking but I don't really like to be around a bunch of people. I could not believe how that guy was weaving in and out of people....From the sounds of the title he must do it pretty often....

Hi Bill_S and welcome to the forum! I don't like being around lots and lots of people and would not detect close to where they are! I usually found an area where not many were there and detect it or go somewhere else or wait until the crowd left.....even during picnics in the park, ball and soccar games there are huge crowds. I would respect them and not get around them, especially if they were lying around a poolside or a crowded beach.....to me, they might think I was going to steal something off their blankets and etc. So for their sakes and to keep peace, I would not detect close to them. But if anyone asks me questions or talks to me, I am friendly to them and answer the best I can without giving too much personal information or in what I may have found.....I always say a few coins and lots of trash.....which usually was very true!

I am a person who likes to be alone anyway and do not like large crowds unless they are family, friends and etc. When alone :detecting: I can concentrate on swinging and finding any goodies that might be found! Don't want to worry about hitting someone with my detector or stepping on them! So I'm better off when I am alone or around only a few who are in a different area playing ball or whatever! :)

God Bless!
