I got a Barber!

There was a short break in the rain so I made a dash for my MD. It was still blustery and cloudy out with a little bit of spit now and then. I started off the road with my MD and like 5 minutes I get a 3-28 so I figure it's a dime. I pull it out and I see it's different. I look at it and it's a 1912D Barber Dime. In only 2-3" of soil! I see it to be about fine condition so I'm happy I got me a Barber.

PS) You would have pooped your britches if I said I found a 1894S -- only 24 minted.

WTG King.:clapping: Nice xmas present to yourself and I bet there are some more barbers there just waiting for you. Hope you can get out again and make another great post of some more. HH.

Lonnie,thats one great looking dime.

I know! It's looks like it fell out of someone's pocket 70-80+ years ago (only an estimation) with hardly any wear & tear too it. It's amazing sometimes when we find coins and sometimes they are not even that deep. Like I said b4 this was only 2-3" in the ground?? I know this area gets the grass mowed all the time during the warmer parts of the season. I am going to really bang this place come Monday when it's supposed to be almost 60 degrees out. :detecting:

I found a Wisconsin 1895s a couple years ago, close but no seegar.

I wouldn't mind finding that. That's not too shabby at $46 in G-4. What condition was yours in if you don't mind me asking?

I feel the "Force" is great with this one ... :yo:

That is a great looking coin Lonnie. Good job! Well, I believe were done for the winter
season now. We took on a foot of snow last night in NE WA. Now that's a bit of a challenge for
detecting. Keep up the good work...

At least you did get a chance to get some swing time though with your new machine.

Thanks Ed. My goal when it's supposed to be 60 Monday is too grid that area out. There has to be more in that vicinity.

I appreciate the encouragement "Jeff & Maria" and you too Ron. Is it cold out there in Michigan?

Thx lazyaussie. One day I hope to get out and see that great country of yours.

It was Fine to VF, hard to tell because I didn't clean it. It was found at a construction site. I found one of my best coins ever, a 1916s WL half in Fine condition with no scratches, just a stones throw away from that dime. I think you have already found out that it is very possible if not probable to occassionally find rare coins with a metal detector. I think it is because people lost the coins before anyone knew they were rare.
