I got a big hair cut today

Mark in S.E. IA

New member
This morning I was doing some research and I spotted something in a old aerial photo that I liked so this afternoon I went and checked it out and I'm glad I did.
I'm not going to say anything about this place besides it's public and that's it. I'm not done working this place. I also found 4 wheat's along with the silvers but the weird thing is I didn't find any IH's or older nickels. I'm going to have to work on that.

Thanks for lookin.

wowwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what coil are you using???

I only use the 10.5 MF DD coil and I have been using it for the past 6 years. I pretty much only hunt for the old coins and I like it because it goes deep and it covers a lot of ground faster then a smaller coils.

Outstanding Mark!!
Looks like you found a place to take some time with.

That's one of the best looking Barber Halves I've seen come out of the ground..........great shape...........now if you could find an 1897 Barber Quarter, V-nickel and Indian Head Cent, you could have a complete year set!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HH - Hawkeye Jim.

Good job! Congratulations

Congrats on another great hunt. You're sure taking your share of Barbers, Mark! Some living in that area might say More than your fair share! Beautiful finds. Nicely done! HH Randy

Well I met that somebody at this place today and all he found was a V nickel, I found 2 more Merc's and that was it.

At this place it has an area about 25' wide by about a 1/2 block long that was plowed, I'm guessing about a year ago and now the grass is starting to grow back and that's the only area I'm finding coins and all the coins I did find were a 1" to 3" deep so the plow brought the coins to the top. all of the rest of the area the grass is just about too tall to MD but their is areas that it's not to bad but I can't find any coins in the non plowed area. Jim wondered all a round out there with the etrac and couldn't find anything either so I'm thinking that the coins out there have got to be a good 12" deep or more. Maybe if we ever get some good rains and catch it right after they mow we just might be able to pull out some of those super deep coins.

Try using prospecting mode cranked up and dig anything that makes a tone. I crank mine until its unsteady. I don't mind flipping hot rocks plus you never know what one could be. Good luck again.
