I got a Key Date IH today

Mark in S.E. IA

New member
Today I got permission to MD a big ole house that was built in 1870 so I had high hopes of finding some 1800's coins. I only found one 1800's coin and it's a good one,,, a 1877 IH,,, yahooooo. I have been trying to find that coin for 7 years now and now I got one. The front is in nice shape but the back is a lil crusty, but that's ok. in that yard I also found a 1905 IH, 3 merc's, a ND Buff, 8 wheat's an all in the 40's an 50's and 2 junk rings.

I have a feeling that their is older coins there but it has that type of soil that you can not get good depth in. All the coins I found were 6" or less deep and real faint signals.

Congratulations on finally meeting a goal! Those others are real nice icing on the cake too!

Awesome!! That's in EXCELLENT condition compared to the one that I found. Congrats!!!

1877 Indian

Congratulations. Maybe we can see you now in the best finds in the eastern and western magazine.

WTG>>>>>>>>>..glad your persistence paid off,a well deserved find for the avid MDer that you are.

Congrats on some great finds ! Is that one merc a 1916 and does it have a D mint mark?

Cograts!!!! Awesome!!
I cant wait until i find my first old coin, but i know i will.
Just about two months in now and definitley hooked.
Again congrats on your IH....

Congratulations Mark. That 77 is in remarkable condition. Full date...full Liberty....Tough to find in that shape. Great recovery.

For those of you not familiar with the 1877 IH cent.... this one Mark found could easily pay for his detector and an assortment of coils.
