I put it together and it sure is a handsome little guy. It isn't as heavy as I thought it might be. Some of the post's said they thought it was heavy, I think it feel's pretty good in the hand. Can't wait to get going this spring. I charged the batteries and am reading the manual for the second time already. I just know I'm going to like this machine.I set it up using the quick start way described in the manual and it felt so good to not have to access menu's and submenu's.This is exactly what I've been looking for, along with the slow sweep speed. Very easy once you get used to it.
You will be able to reach around under your arm and turn knobs and flip switches by feel without looking after a while. You can always peek first if you want to, but one glance tells you how it is set up.
Simple operation without any freakin' menu crap.

Get the 15" WOT if you go to the beach. You'll be pulling dimes and quarters at 22-23"
I agree as I hate menu's and submenu's also and I agree with everything else that was said here except one thing, you said, "This is exactly what I've been looking for, along with the slow sweep speed." I am curious why would you want a slow sweep speed on purpose. I thought that this was a bad thing, and a big disadvantage of all BBS and FBS machines??
David, I personaly don't consider a slow sweep speed a disadvantage at all. I know other's will disagree, but I feel that I can be much more thourgh. Meaning that I can concentrate on the small weak signal's that you just plain miss when sweeping so fast. Especially in trashy area's like the place's I like to hunt in. It also may boil down to personal preference with the vast majority of people wanting to cover as much ground as possible and the few like me who just want to putter along. I also started metal detecting back in 1976 when that was the only way you could hunt. I still have that engrained in me and I still like to hunt that way. I'm not a competiter by nature and this is still just a hobby for me,it's something I can go out and do get some relaxation at my pace, not the detector's pace. there is something very satisfing about digging an old deep coin from an area that other's have gone over many times before. So there you go David, after I re-read this it look's like what I really mean is, it really IS personal preference. Merry Christmas!!! Gary

I really like the slow sweep speed approach ... you can sweep Minelabs at both higher and slower sweep speeds but the the fact that you can go slow without missing targets allows you to be more thorough and get the better deep targets imo. Before I got my Minelabs you "had" to swing more traditional detectors faster in order for them to work properly (get deeper, etc).
Of course, it depends on the type of detecting you prefer ... covering a large area at maximum speed will usually get you a lot of new coins, etc which is what some people like. My preference to get the older stuff and I find a slower carefully approach is more effective. YMMV.

Slow is the way to go. Now not all detectors are designed to be swept at a snails pace but again and in my opinion, the faster you sweep the better your chances of leaving stuff behind are.
Your brain is only going to process so much at a time anyways so why the rush? Like fishing, take your time, be patient and the prize will come

im not sure about the slow sweep finding more ...yes you can search a small area better but if on a beach you will still cover much the same amount of area in a fast or slow search in fact you will cover more are searching fast ......but not quite as accurate ......it all comes down to the amount of time you spend on the sand ...............whether going fast or slow you can still only cover almost the same amount of area in the given time the coil is above the sand
The BBS and FBS machines are inheritely slow by nature and perfectly fit a slow swing person like a glove and perfect for a trash laden yard getting the maximum depth possible and the best discrimination possible they cannot be beat as the best machines on the market.
BUT do not take one to a very large fields(farmers, homesteads, Civil War, etc.) with a low amount of non-ferrous trash if you are a speed hunter and want to cover as much amount of ground in a day. Get a Musketeer Advantage with a 15" WOT DD, X-Terra 70 with a 10.5" DD, Vaquero with a 10x12" DD, F75 with a 12x15 SEF, or MXT with a 12x15 or 15x18" SEF instead.
