Felix contacted Max for me and we exchanged text messages. As you know I was Looking to get info on that particular belt clip Max used to carry his big bulky sand scoop on. I talked to Max and he told me he had an extra one and was more than happy to send it to me free of charge !! I accepted his generous offer only if I could re-imburse him his shipping cost. He said ok. Well it arrived today 9/26, looks pretty cool and sending him a thank-you.

Thanks Max and even a greater thank-you to you Felix for making this happen.. Look-out next yr OBX. I'm coming to claim my share of the gold !!

Max is the epitome of real southern gentlemen. Many years ago, (13), right after Hurricane Sandy hit NJ, The rod on my F75 snapped in half and my scoop handle broke
in the same day. Max sent me a new stainless steel scoop he was given as a promo, That year, I went to a comp hunt in Va Beach just to meet Max. Took him out to dinner and bought him a couple of bottles of his favorite wine. He truly is a wonderful guy. Thx again Max. I have since passed the scoop onto another friend,

Glad I was able to help you out…… good luck!!
As others have already stated, Max ( I call him Tuffy) is a great guy!
The very first time I went to Va. Beach detecting and met him, he invited me to his house for a nice dinner!
He still detects at Va. Beach.

Glad he was able to help you out Mark, that was so cool of Max!!

How is it made? I was only able to make a guess based on the videos I posted. Is it a hook riveted to a harder piece that's then riveted to a piece of leather or some type of softer fabric material for the belt to go through?

well the best description I can make is it's made out of aluminum, in the shape of a pare about 6 inches long. 2 slots on top where a belt would thread thru, and a j-hook welded to the aluminum piece... Max says to put some type of cushioning behind it to help save your hip..
Pretty cool.

Yes indeed, very cool! That was so nice of Max to send that to you. We have a lot of great guys/gals in our community. I previously posted about this in a few forums, but I recently finished putting together my first PI (Franken DuFi). I had the Dual Field control box & coil, but needed a shaft, lower rod w/clevis, upper shaft, coil bolt & washer, and a few other things. Some of my buddies in another forum, along with a member of this forum, reached out to me to provide some parts I needed, and the build kinda evolved into a group project, lol. But one of the guys who is an Admin, offered to send me a lower rod/clevis he had for a Dual Field he used to own. He sent me the lower rod/clevis, wouldn't even let me pay for postage. And, in an act of extreme generosity, he included a 1749 copper coin he had found. I've never found a coin from the 1700's so seeing that totally blew my mind. What a great guy!

Oh, and shout out to Donna(NJ, she hooked me up with a coil cover for my Dual Fields 12" Spider Coil. I searched all over, never thought I'd be able to get one.

IIRC, on those videos I posted of Max's hook, I could see the hook attached to the pear-shaped piece of aluminum. I thought the hook may have been riveted to the aluminum piece but sounds like it was welded from your description. But if you look at those videos again, that pear piece looked to be riveted to a larger/softer piece of material. I was thinking leather, but it could be any soft piece of material. That would provide the cushioning against your hip Max referred to. And it looked like the belt holes were cut into the fabric for the belt to slide through. I thought I was on the right track, the videos were just older and not filmed in 4K, so harder to see details, lol. Once you get it all set up, post some pics!!

WELL; maybe there are a couple variations of the same contraption. ?? I'm certainly not going to look a gift horse in the mouth. Carrying a 5 +pound scoop around a beach is not my idea of fun, and I'm sure this belt attachment will truly do the trick. I've been pass VA beach at least 25 times throughout the yrs but never pulled up short on my way to OBX.. should have.... me and max would of gave"m hell on the sand !! would have been a blast.
