Headed to the wood chips for a sunny-day outing last week and of course, I ended up having a little boy tagging along. His mom was keeping an eye on the two of us but I must have passed the test because he tagged along with me for over a half hour.
Hunting the playgoung area I would find the target and let him uncover the coin. Always a penny. We must have found a dozen of them. I suggested we go to the grassy area alongside the playground and maybe we could find some other coins. His eyes lit up and he said "like nickles?" Comes to find out that nickles are his favorite coin in the whole world.
I would again find the target and cut the plug. His job was to break the plug open and take out the coin.
In a matter of twenty minutes w found nine coins...all of them quarters and none of them in a pocket spill. Just a nice little stretch of quarter heaven. At least I was in heaven...My assistant was completely disgusted that we found no nickles.
It being time for the Momma to gather the little boy to go home she came and thanked me for giving her a little break from Mommy duty. Then she asked her son if we had found anything.
The boy was dead serious...He just shook his head "No" and pointed at my Ace and said "It don't work."
I guess when you have your heart set on a nickle then a fist full of quaters just doesn't cut it.
