I guess my Ace doesn't work

Headed to the wood chips for a sunny-day outing last week and of course, I ended up having a little boy tagging along. His mom was keeping an eye on the two of us but I must have passed the test because he tagged along with me for over a half hour.
Hunting the playgoung area I would find the target and let him uncover the coin. Always a penny. We must have found a dozen of them. I suggested we go to the grassy area alongside the playground and maybe we could find some other coins. His eyes lit up and he said "like nickles?" Comes to find out that nickles are his favorite coin in the whole world.
I would again find the target and cut the plug. His job was to break the plug open and take out the coin.
In a matter of twenty minutes w found nine coins...all of them quarters and none of them in a pocket spill. Just a nice little stretch of quarter heaven. At least I was in heaven...My assistant was completely disgusted that we found no nickles.
It being time for the Momma to gather the little boy to go home she came and thanked me for giving her a little break from Mommy duty. Then she asked her son if we had found anything.
The boy was dead serious...He just shook his head "No" and pointed at my Ace and said "It don't work."
I guess when you have your heart set on a nickle then a fist full of quaters just doesn't cut it.

I dont always find alot of nickels, I find alot of pennies and quarters. And a million pulltabs lol, we should start a pull tab recycling program ha ha

You know, maybe there is a pull tab program!!
My wife collects them for some kind of charity. (You get so many and some company donates a certain amount of money to the charity).
I'll have to ask her.

You should have pulled one out of your pocket and dropped it in the chips when he wasn't looking then found it for him. I do that once in awhile when I'm swarmed with kids. Guess you'll have to send your 250 in for repairs. HAA.

Ya they are. They come over and say, what's you doing mister....They watch for a while and catch on fast to how your working it. Then they start saying, right here mister, dig here. Most of the time I have to tell them I have to X the spot before I dig or I would have to big a hole than I need...

OP, I had to think this when I read your post. If you had found a nickle you might have cost his mommy some money for a detector. I am sure he would of ask her to buy him one if you had found a nickle...But it only found penny's/quaters so it doesn't work...hehehehehe...Kids say the darnest things don't they.

Very Kool story GG was awesome of you to let the boy tag along!!

I had a young boy about 10 follow me around the ball field I detect 5 minutes from my home one day and were finding a mixture of trash and a variety of coins (including nickles  and yes I gave him all my finds) and he started talking to me of losing an expensive gold necklace at another park I have not hit yet and have been wanting to get to (a beach park and I used to be employed and assigned too!!!!). So somewhere under a tree he was climbing is an expensive gold necklace waiting to be found!
