I had a question on a coil

I also have a Predator III and had posted over on the Garrett site. Those folks seem to talk all around you and not even notice. (I think it's because I mentioned I swing a Minelab)I wanted to get a more quality coil over the stock, and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. I think I am right as to any Garrett coil will work as long as it is not an imaging coil. The Predator is the same as the old Treasure Ace 300. Any ideas on something around 8" in Garrett or an aftermarket?

I e-mailed Kellyco, and they wanted me to call them. I'm not much on talking to salesmen. I was just going to try and get a short list and decide after doing a little comparison research on my own. I will probably e-mail Garrett now that you mention it, though they won't suggest anything after market. When I bought it years ago they offered a coil called Hot Head. But I think that co. no longer exists. I just put an 8" on my Explorer and it is so much lighter. Takes more time to cover an area. Seems to reach out the sides of the coil area, but that was over an aluminum can around 6 or 7 inches deep. Think that's pretty typical with a target that size with any coil.

For What It's Worth:

Ron, You may be better served, if you purchased your parts and or equipment from the 'Sponsors' of this forum and or your local dealer. Kellyco is well know company and they do offer good prices but did you know they specialize in 'refurbished' equipment? Give your purchase serious thought before plunking down your hard earned cash. K?

But have since started using Dixie Metal Detectors. I too was concerned they (Kellyco) sent me used detectors before I knew the better. I called them years ago with my concern whereas they assured me they were new. I don't think I will ever know for sure. DeMarco Detectors has a 1600 mah for $69.00 and an 1800 mah for $99.00. Everyone else has them on back order.

The big K likes to entice people with all the free made in Japan junk. It is daid the sell re-packs, and many have had bad experiences also.
