I had my best hunt ever today!

Today was a day that I will never forget. I went to a picnic area in a public park that had been used from the mid 1800s to the 1950s. I was using a coin shooting pattern on my Simplex with the 9x5 coil and my new predatortools shovel. First good find was a 1908 Barber dime. After that came a flood of old coins! 1899 V nickel, 2 more barbers, a war nickel, several wheats, and the find of the day an 1843 Seated dime! My 2nd oldest coin ever and older than my state of Iowa! I think it was a virgin site and there had been construction and the dirt had been moved around. Still kind of in shock! Definitely my best hunt ever. Thanks for looking! Video on my youtube channel Coinboy Detecting and Collecting coming soon.

I’m on 2.78. My disc pattern was 0 to 30 notched out, 30 to 35 in for nickels since they ring up a 31 with the 9x5 coil. Then 35-60 notched out, accepting most mid/high and high conductors.
Thank you I’ll have to try it out. I run 2.77 because that’s how mine came from the factory but I’ve been thinking about updating for the stable vdi numbers. Would you recommend doing so?

You worried about missing any jewlery with 35-60 notched out?. Nice finds!

Wow. I’m feeling super happy for you, buddy. Get out there and hit that spot again and again. You just beat my best coin day by like ten fold. I got really happy reading this thread. Good for you man. I don’t get that feeling much. That’s super cool. Someday I will see posts from an early settlement era homesite.
