Lowsinger and I went out to a park that we haven't hit this year. There were a few hundred people in the park today so it should be another great hunting day tomorrow. Here is hunt #63. All coins 0"-4". Disc@20, Sens@65, Thres@-3, Tones@4H, notch out tabs and using 6.5" coil and Sporta-pro headphones. It was just a smashing day to be out hunting. Cool! Gotta dollar coin! 
I was playing with my thresh setting today out in the yard, sort of getting ready for a mega clad stab coming up...seems the higher I go especially 0 +...it gives a very washy wider ping...the lower I go, it gives a crisper tighter ping..so I dont know if thats why you and me like the neg sens...its a cladstabbers delight. I doubt I would have been able to understand or discern this difference a few years back, and for sure would not be able to stab a coin at a higher thresh..

Mud sometime ago I did a lot of moving the threshhold around. The higher the threshold and higher the sensitivity the more noise. With the higher threshold (plus numbers) number the detector became more sensitive to smaller targets including small bits of iron. That I couldn't find. If you move the thresh in the higher plus numbers it worked better by lowering the sensitivity. It seemed that the numbers that come to me now were sens@45 and thresh@+5,6 ? I monkeyed around that summer and got a lot of different settings but it seemed that the higher the threshold numbers in the plus area the lower the sensitivity worked much quieter. It got to a point that I was spending more time fiddling with the detector than actually swinging it. So I went with the easiest setting for me. Meaning quiet hunting and still finding my targets at a fair depth. The F70 is very versatile, fast, light and peppy. Most of the guys that picked them up when they first came out didn't want to stick with them because they weren't seeing the super deep depths. And there were a lot of new detectors that came on the market about the same time that had many more bells and whistles and pricier. I am sorry to say I went that way myself got a few higher priced machines. But here I am with only the F70 and others are gone. Thanks Mud for the good information. Keep it coming. You can experiment with the F70 for a very long time and discover many new things about it. I just kind of settled into an easy flow with the F70 and I am fine with that. Happy Trails...Z

Yeah, with your settings I have no prob telling a crown top from a Q or D either...unless its a crushed crown and I REALLY want to believe its a Q!
