I hate Little Hitlers. :ranting:

People who feel they have have to try to exert what little power they have over others just because they're able to irritate the heck out of me. (But I have a pretty huge "fairness" issue.)

Was detecting a little island in a neighboring town this morning--one I've detected many times before--only to have an orange DPW truck stop next to me and have the young driver try to impress his co-workers by giving me a bunch of ****.

"... You're not digging anything up, are you?"

"Can you tell anywhere I've been?"

(Looks around.)
"No, but... [blah, blah, blah, blah, blah,...]"

And much more blah, blah, blah,...

After he/they left--and parked 100 ft. away--I did too. Hard to find that balance between standing up for oneself, and the principle of things, and not letting things get blown out of proportion. Figured it was better to just leave--and it was close to the time I was going to leave anyhow. Thought of a lot of good responses later. (But that's usually the way it works.) And also thought later that nothing would have made much difference anyhow since once he was committed to his stance he wouldn't have backed down in front of his (older) coworkers.

Little ****s can just go die.

Aahh Rich, I'm sorry about that...

Here ya are...
This might put the curse on him for you.

If the little "Richard Cranium" got out, and saw how careful you were extracting targets it might have been different.
Do you figure he was a City officer, or just some smart arse young turkey showing off to his buddies?

yeah, kinda sucks. I had that happen, but just so happen I had already talk to the parks director for the city and I explained to the person that xxxxxxxxx said it was no problem and I got the "oh........." And he walked off.

But you did the right thing.

Next time, ask for the name and phone number of his supervisor... then dial him up on your cell phone right in front of your antagonist. 9 times out of 10 he'll say "forget it" or drive off in a hurry, because he doesn't want to get into trouble.... because many times city workers are out goofing off doing something they're not supposed to be doing in a place they're not supposed to be in. Especially if they're trying to impress their co-workers. If you do get ahold of the supervisor, let hime know what you're doing, that your antagonist is watching you and - by his own admission - you're leaving no evidence of your digging behind...the situation will resolve itself most of the times. Speaking from experience here...... Take care and HH, Mike.

Little Hitlers drive me nuts as well, the best way to handle them is to ignore them. If you do not accept their alleged power, they can not use it against you. I have been confronted once and I simply asked the park employee what law, regulation or code I was breaking and he could not tell me. I then said that if I was not breaking any law, regulation or code that I was going to get back to what I was doing and he should do the same. I put my headphones back on and continued to detect. He tried to speak to me, but I pointed to my headphones to let him know I could not hear him and he walked away and did not bother me for the rest of the time I was at the park. :starwars:

Bottom line, don't let an idiot like that ruin your hunt!

Flawboy, it doesn't sound like he was a very determined A-hole. Some of them just won't stop until they have escalated the situation far beyond what a normal person would consider. Like the song says, you got to know when to fold 'em.
