I have 2 questions. More like a poll.

Hi Mike2, If you run with deep off try keeping you gain at 7 - 8. I posted that I use gain at 8 which was a typo. My setting is 7 on gain. Reason? In my area 8 gives me just a bit too much falsing. Gain at 7 is livable. This is with the Slimline coil. In using the FBS1050, I run pretty quiet.
Good luck Mike and adjust as your area demands.

Being very very new with the Minelab Xs..........I have a question.............Is it, or isn't it good in trash ?? And does it have a lot of masking like all machines.
Sorry I am so dumb..But I am !!! I know there are a couple of newer models. But, I was told the XS is near the same in operating. It only has one number value and not two. That I know...........but can it be interpreted for trash objects, and still leave the coin readings possible? Or, with the one number factor, will I dig a lot of trash. Thank you and I hope you understand what I am trying to ask.

Your XS is no different. They all get fooled by trash and all are deep hunters. If you understand that 99% of your coin finds are going to be in the right 1/3 of your screen. The digital read on your XS would be low digits for nickles to high digits for silver and large coppers. Your hours on the machine will help you determine the closest digit for each coin. These digits will change some according to hunting conditions. I find hunting with the cursor more desirable to me. One reason is, I dig a lot of signals in the coin area not just the ones that say 00-29 for example or just 29 on your machine. Cursor placement on a quarter or 29 on your machine is high right corner. This is an easy call. For argument sake, upper right corner with the cursor can also be a hot rock. But with practice you will know the difference without going to digital. On your digital it should be 31 or on the SE 00-31.
Will you dig a lot of trash? Yes. and so does everyone else if they really tell the truth. If you want the goodies you dig some trash.
These are my feelings on your question. Maybe someone else has a better answer or more to add to help you out.

Thanks Bob.Knew I could count on a solid truthful answer from you.
These things are just a little different from my XLT LOL
