I have learned the sounds of pulltabs with the Atpro!

I finally got the hang of the broken up tone of a pulltab , to me it sounds like a 3D tone what I mean its reading the surface of the tab and the breaks in the tone is the blank spaces in the tab, this is great to learn , has anyone else did the same thing?

Trouble is the tones change depending on how it is sitting in the dirt, if it's bent or torn in half. Always better to dig it, you *MIGHT* just ignore a ring.

I totally agree, It was a break through for me on the Atpro, I do dig those iffy sounds, most of the time its a twisted pull tab of sort, thanks for the input TGC, HHH

The last gold ring I dug up, in February, I was certain was a pull tab. Was I surprised. I dig all of the tabs. Last year I filled 5 waste baskets with pull tabs, wadded up foil, can slaw but I also found a decent amount of gold.

If my VDI reads a resounding 53 I will dig a pulltab 9 out of 10 times. I usually dig them for the first hour and then start ignoring them.

Sometimes my knees don't allow to dig everything but I do try to dig in the 40's much as possible, like grunter then I go higher on the #'s

Last saturday I hit a 1903 V nickle and a 1899 V nickle both at solid 53's. If I hit a 53 that is bouncing all over the place I may let it go.

I am only good for so long too being disabled so have that limit on the amount of deep targets and those 50s sounding pull tabs and bottle caps/tops....have got pretty much nothing but pull tabs and bottle tops but i couldnt forgive myself if i missed a ring, thankfully ill never know if it was and someone else got it.
Still youtube is a thorn im my side of people finding great stuff while im filling my trash can with ring pulls, nails, etc

For me a VDI of 53 usually turns out to be a pull tab, you know the kind that's supposed to stay on the can, but people go to the extra effort to break off and throw down on the ground anyway!!. I seem to get more nickels in the 51 reading range. Those older type pull tops with the ring and beaver tail still intact land right in the pull top range. It's a different story when they are separated.
