I heard on TV where gas may hit $7.00 per gallon..

Now THAT would be worth waiting for before I go out and buy a scooter!!!!

There are also experiments on the way to develop a motorcycle that runs on water/hydrogen.

You know I've heard that fairy tale about Exxon's measely profits before. When I worked for Standard Oil ( Exxon) in the fifties their profit was that much back then when gas was 20-25 cents per gallon. Remarkable that now that gas is $4.25 per gallon here that their profit is still the same. Corporate propaganda really pays off. :)

There are many products derived from a barrel of crude other than gas, diesel, kerosene, fuel oil, jet fuel, oils and lubricants. There are probably over a thousand products derived from oil. Half of the stuff a new car is made of is made from oil. There are medicines, paints of all kinds, building materials, and the list goes forever - and Exxon makes a ton off of all of it. That's why the Rockefeller family is worth about $15 trillion.

Yeah I know some truckers who had to hang it up. They should all go on strike and shut this country down - then watch the price of fuel drop.

Bill

Yesterday it was $4.13 here - today it's $4.25 and the price of crude has dropped. So who is screwing who?

When I was a kid they had a scooter called the Salsbury that would do about 75 MPH and was one helluva ride. It had an accelerator pedal instead of a twist grip throttle. Was a big, roomy, scooter.

Bill

Yeah it's just unbridled greed fueling the big hikes in prices. There is no demand exceeding supply. That's all hogwash but it helps to rig and manipulate prices.

Bill

Yeah but 75% of the price there and in some other countries is taxes. In one little country it is $18.62 per gallon. But strangely in the MIddle East it's only about forty cents and in Venezuela it's only fourteen cents a gallon.

I have a scooter Bill, and I think I am one of the few that can say After finding .67 cents detecting that I paid for my gas LOL. I bought a 2008 Yamaha C3 It's designed along the lines of the old "Cushman" scooters from the 60's. It has a 1.2 gallon tank which cost me 4.25 last time i filled it and it gets 120 MPG....well ok not with my fat #ss on it I get bout 105-110 MPG. Plus at being 49CC you dont need a cycle endorcment or insurance or plates. just a Moped sticker 15.00 for 3 yr sticker. Oh did I mention it will do 47 MPH.....not suppose to but it does. So basically if it takes me 15 mins. to drive somewhere in my truck to go detecting and use 2 gal. of gas, it takes me 25 mins to get there on my scooter with only 1/10th the gas.

Just call me Scooter Trash LOL

Take Care

Anything over 49CC you need a cycle endorcement, plates, etc. and the 47 MPH well the law here says Mopeds & scooters are not suppose to exceed 30-35 MPH (oops) :nono: LOL

ANd if I'm not mistaken you can't ride them on the InterStare. Only the State Roads and residential and even then
the cars are lible to blow you off the road!

$4.45 here today.

http://www.varsitycycle.com/kymco_xciting_500.shtml But it is not a moped that is for sure.

I fixed this problem (or at least helped out a bunch) last week by ordering one of those Japanese Mini Trucks. Her in OK they will be legal for road use in November. 50 mpg, 4wd, A/C, and a bed to haul everything. That blows away my 16 mpg dodge. I will even drive it to work and save even more. The best thing is that, if I am killed in an auto accident (which I will be if I have a wreck in the mini truck) they can just bury me in the truck. No coffin needed! I am 250 lbs and look like a circus bear driving one of these little trucks. Fits like a glove.

We are partially to blame for the high price in gas.
North America's hunger for cheap imported goods from China takes lots and lots of Diesel fuel to bring it over.

Then, the automakers and other manufacturers are partially to blame for forcing themselves and their suppliers to lower their prices by using cheap Mexican and Chinese labor.
They cut US and Canadian laborers, move the plants to Mexico/China and transport the goods in. They are saving money, but in the long run they are slitting their own throats.
Move jobs = More fuel demand = higher fuel prices = less car buyers = cutting costs = moving jobs.
Move jobs = less workforce with disposable income to purchase a new car = cutting costs = moving jobs.

These are just a couple of facets on the shining gem of a turd that is the whole economy right now.

Even in Mexico it is bad. Mexican labor unions are offering concessions to keep their jobs from being moved to China.

A great place to find out more information about these trucks is http://www.minitrucktalk.com They are great for a lot of things. I'm glad that Oklahoma is passing a law to use them on the roads.

I solved this problem also, I bought this today.

My scooters are for sale, a 2003 Honda Ruckus and a 1999 Yamaha Zuma. This is not a trail or woods bike I know that, I travel long distances to do my job and this has room for all my equipment and my Ace, 40-50 MPG, varies by throttle application and beats my 1996 Broncos 16 MPG by a huge margin. This one takes a Motorcycle Endorsement for sure. Wanted a Goldwing but just couldn't justify $4,000.00 for a 20 year old ride, this is a 2005 Kawasaki Councours and will fill my needs at the same price. Obviously now that I have purchased this it will start raining down here in Florida, this might be better than my usual rain dance.
