I hit the side woods......

this morning since the temps were nice and cool, cool enough to keep the skeeters at bay. Lol I hadn't had a chance to hunt much lately due to the fact I've been busy doing odd and ends around the house ect. So, with the cool snap we had recently, I made dirt digging a priority. Was getting the usual trash.... Nails, foil balls, washers ect and suddenly, against an old tree the Compadre rang out loud and out of the hole was my first spoon. Just a regular ole spoon. So I thought...... After returning to the house I began to gently clean it under warm water using a soft bristle brush, revealing the initials "USN". After doing a bit of research, I discovered that its of the WM Rogers mgf variety and is the Imperial style and manufactured in 1941. It stands to reason that a USN "squis" ate with this spoon during WW 2. I was excited that this was my first spoon and beyond stoked to find this info out. :surprised: it hit home with me as I'm former Navy myself.

Thanks for reading and HH<Spider

Neat Find. Congratulations.

Never saw a spoon with the USN on it. That must have come from the Wardroom where the Elite ate their meals. But I always thought that the Wardroom only used silver utensils.

I was never a squid but I have been called a BubbleHead, Sewer Pipe Sailor and a few other terms that those that rode Targets thought were derogatory terms.

Happy Veterans day Shipmate.
