I had it out on a snowboarding hill once, and had trouble using it, as the metal D-rings on my winter boots would interfere with it. The depth of the snow was 2-3 feet in places. I did manage a couple of 2 dollar coins in the top 6 inches, but was wondering what kind of depth I can expect to get in a freshwater beach, where the sand and water is alkaline with some mineralization. I can run my VLF machines at about 80% sensitivity before they just get too unstable. Of course, I won't be wearing any winter boots in the water either
, so is (expecting) getting a soft quiet signal on say a dime or small gold ring at 12 inches unreasonable. That would be in standard trash elimination with the elimination set at zero, as there should not be too many signals where I plan to use it.
