;;;;;;;;;;;;One of the 1st rules of detecting is "DETECT WITH AS LITTLE DISC.AS POSSIBLE".................:(WELL:I just realized that all this time,I have been running my Fisher1280X wet detector with the discrimination up in the 5-6 range,at which setting will completely ignore nickels-And we all know if the disc.is high enough to ignore nickels;it will ignore GOLD TOO:thumbdown::surrender::unsure::shrug:HOW MUCH GLITTERY STUFF HAVE I MISSED BECAUSE OF THIS FAUX PAS???:sadwalk:Oh;the humanity-SO:As soon as Im done writing this,Im grabbing the 1280X,and doing the old AIR TEST on her so's I can determine the threshold above not which to run and keep cheating meself out of WHO KNOWS how much snazzy.stuff in the water-Hafta change the batteries,anyhoo........................I might even start running NO DISC.at all..............HELLO,PULLTABS:shrug:....................

I run my CZ-21 at (1) I try to only disc out iron.

Well, get busy digging more trash and, hopefully, more goodie finds.....I used Disc when I got too tired to dig and wanted to just have a good coin count! Ma got tired too easily and still do! May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty

I always run my Fisher 1266 around 3-4 at the most. I get tons of nickels - which is the secret. Good luck now, Steve in so az

Oh My Gosh! I sold my Fisher and bought a Minelab but that's okay because I only had a baby Fisher...ha! ha! I always run my disc just below nickle to avoid iron and the obvious junk but still find the good stuff.

ooooooooh that stinks!! at the beach and in the water i use no disc(cz20 autotune=all metal) or disc 1 trying to knock out iron. gold will report as anything from foil to silver.

Well at least that is a correctible situation. Had you said you have been holding the coil end of the detector and swinging the electronics in the water that might not be a correctible situation....and I would have had to question your sanity
