.......A story about a woman wading in a lake and finding a wedding ring,and getting it back to the rightful owner 4 months later.In the comments section,MANY stories about rings being lost,in different ways....I put in a plug for Find's Forums,told them all how to look us up,and the fact that it is almost an unwritten rule to return any found jewelry to its' rightful owner,if at all possible...AND ALSO,the fact that most of us never ask for a finder's fee;just seeing the smile on a person's face for returning their lost items,is payment enough.............

I rented a metal detector while on vacation to help a family member find a lost wedding band.
The great part about this story is that it wasn't just me that wanted them to have their ring back
but also the fellow that I rented the detector from extended our rental for no cost because he also
wanted us to find the ring. This fine hobbyist knew the feeling of the find and also remembered the
happiness that was given to another human in the return of an important personal item.
The metal detector was a Whites and it was a basic model utility type but it worked awesome. The
tides were not favorable to get to the areas where the owner felt they had lost the ring. On my last day
of vacation I gridded off the beach pretty well the water was out, so I started down in the area that people
would swim during high tide and worked my way up laterally. I was detecting with my kids so we were
digging and sifting with sand toys. At about right where everyone enters the water we got a nice hit and
this item was about four inches down. We anxiously dug and there it was, the large titanium wedding band!
I found a large co-hog shell and presented it to the couple that evening. Thank God, for the owner of the
metal detector that he was so willing to help. He made a difference for them, but also encouraged me to
pursue metal detecting. I found a second wedding band almost in the identical spot three years to the day
and that was this year. This band had zero identification only its gold marks it was 14 kt about 8.4 grams
So one rented this last one borrowed and finding gold and I was hooked. I bought my second metal detector
of my life a Garrett Ace 350. The last one I had I was fifteen years old thirty one years ago Finger Hut metal
detector bought that one myself too. Those funds were from the paper route. Always enjoyed watching the old
timers detecting the schools and parks as a kid. They were always so willing to talk and even perhaps letting
you even give it a go. So I have to say, I owe it to the hobbyist for keeping the hobby going by their friendly
caring demeanor.
Thank God for the Hobbyist who swings the coil but also cares for
the broken hearted. For whether he knows it or not is doing the will
of God. George

9 rings the past 3 summers. Over $10,000 worth. The smiles, tears, and hugs were worth far more than if I had scrapped them. 
.....I found a ring for my physical therapist's brother,a few years ago,lost in a lake...Made a special trip to this lake to look for it,-found it,RIGHT WHERE HE SAID IT SHOULD BE,waist-deep.my therapist friend told me when he gave that ring back to him after I found it,he was so happy,he cried.....I asked for no fee,getting that response was enough of a fee.....2 weeks later,I had a $50Walmart gift card sent to me,by this man,my therapist got my address from patient records.....

That's a great one, it's probably one of the better feelings out there.
It's in our nature, woven into our fabric to please. For a man it all starts
as a boy competing, to do our best to please those around us, and especially
our loved ones, and continues through adulthood. The graciousness of the
individual feeds our need of approval and in them be highly satisfied we are
more than happy!
