I know at one time Sun Ray made a meter for the Sovereign; does anyone still make one?

There is a guy in Michigan that builds a meter for the sov. He had one on Ebay......I think he goes by Ron in Michigan on the forum.....

Kind of makes you wonder..... no ones investing time or money into upgrades on the SOV like meters or new coils that recently came out. Are they just satisified with it or do they think BBS had its day?

SEF coils are fairly new and for the Sovereign. The problem is everybody goes for the flash these days. They think just because a detector has a shinny computer screen and tons of questionable programming features it must outperform less flashy detectors like the Sovereign. Nothing could be further from the truth. Just look at cell phones these days with all the applications you can run on them. I'm not apposed to technology but all I want my phone to do is ring when somebody calls. Anything else I can do on the computer.

BBS may be old technology but the detectors from other manufacturers still haven't produced something to compete with it. In a sense it's still years ahead of what is out there from other companies.

You can not sum it up better than Critter did. Welcome to the cult of the Sovereign:starwars:

The Ron's meters are by far the best value and quality that you can currently get for a Sovereign.

you should check those meters out. they are no-nonsense & no frills, and sell cheaper than the Sun Ray's. Ron is doing a great service for the Sov community

Yes he is! A great service!

Not to sound more clueless than usual, but I know Joe Patrick builds a Insight Meter. Are we talking about someone else who builds Sov meters? I am on the prowl for one and would appreciate the info.

Ron is super easy to deal with - very nice person, and he does professional quality work. I ordered one of these from him, and he sent it to me as soon as the money order arrived. His communication is excellent. And if you have any questions about the meter or its use, he leaves the door open to asking him about anything you don't know about it. Instruction drawing with the thing (hand made, but very understandable) and a list of readings that the numbers register. :super:

Thanks, I appreciate the info. Maybe Avengers are still being made. I had two that eventually died from old age, but they were very good. I never had a Sunray, but hear they are also good. Since Joe Patrick mounts the meter in the control box that is probably the way I should go, but I used the Avengers for years on the pole while I belt mounted the control box. That worked fine. The way you can fine read a target when you get used to this system is amazing.
