Up my way, our firearms laws are, well, pretty silly, meant to appease the urban dwellers.. yes, true ! Native peoples are pretty much exempt, because they have always borrowed weapons and equipment back and forth. A moose needs shooting, Harry's rifle is busticated, he nips over to Joes, borrows his and gets the moose alright. May be some time before he returns the iron ! Now, a farmer cannot even keep a barn gun without being neck deep in the doo-doo ! Sheeeesh !

All firearms must have trigger locks, and be stored in a locked ( steel I think ) cabinet . Ammo must be stored separately and remotely to boot ! NO loaded guns in the house... great big NO ! You must not be a big ol' bully and threaten or intimidate intruders and burglars. I sold off my firearms and reloading gear, maybe 20 years ago. Big mistake, I'm now going to get a .22 target at least. Kicker is, I will have to take a ridiculous training course, from some little know nothing twit, to ensure I know which end the bullet pops out of ! Poop ! Rant pretty much done, but hey, one of my buttons was pushed !

OK, suggestion time; maybe vent the unit, holes top and bottom and I'd stick in a 5lb bag of desiccant ( silica gel ) to be sure of moisture control. Cold winter use, your tools will sweat a bit, when they are brought in .

Old timey trappers and bushmen, in cold weather, never brought their guns into the warm; no sweat !
