I love my T2

I have been using my T2 for about 2 1/2 months now and the last 3 weeks have been amazing! I am rather new to metal detecting and even newer to teknetics! I started detecting about 6 months ago with a fisher f2! I had amazing beginners luck with the fisher! That is an amazing machine for beginners! After about a month though I knew I had to upgrade to a machine with more capabilities! I wanted to hang with the big dogs! After reading online for a while and talking to people I t came down to a whites or the T2! I went with the T2 because I couldnt find any bad reviews and I wanted a machine with good depth capabilities! Before the T2 arrived I read the whole manual twice and pretty much memorized it! So I thought! I knew that i had alot to learn and the only real way to do that was to get out there and dig! I was a little overwhelmed at first and didnt think I got the right machine! I wasnt gonna give up on her that easy though! After about 2 weeks I thought I had everything figured out and I was digging silvers and alot of other cool relics and coins. I was also digging a ton of trash though because I just couldnt trust the machine! Always felt like I was missing the good stuff! I kept on hunting with the T2 every chance I could get! After about a month I was sure I knew the machine but I couldnt figure out why I was still digging so much trash and the numbers where so jumpy! Dont get me wrong I was still doing very well in the field I just felt like the machine wasnt as good as everyone made it out to be. I did alot of reading on this forum and asking people questions and progressivly improved but something was still missing! I read a post that said after you get familiar with your T2 go back and read the manual again! This is what I did and what a difference it made! This time when I read the manual it was like a step by step guide on what I was doing wrong! Some of the problems I was having where I was only using the fast grab if a absolutely had to and I always had it in my head that I had to run the machine as hot as possible to get the good depth! My swing speed was also a problem I would slow down when I got a good hit and it wasnt as accurate! Also I was digging alot of jumpy Id targets and targets without clear audio tone! When I read the manual after using the T2 for a while it was like a light went off in my head! I can see clearly now the rain is gone! lol Now that relized what I was doing wrong I was prepared to go out and rip it up! This is exactly what happened! I found the settings that I liked and learned to trust the machine. I am now digging hardly any trash! I mean you always dig some trash but before I was digging way to much! Now when I go out I always ground balance unless the response is where I like it when I start. My favorite settings for coinshooting are 90 sense, 50 disc, 3 tone. With these settings Ive learned to only dig the targets that have a clear tone. For a while I would dig every target that had a high pitch tone even if it was followed by a low tone! These hits are always trash I mean always! Every now and then it could be a coin next to a piece of Iron but when this is the case you can usually tell by the audio! Its all about the audio with the T2! I also swing the t2 a little faster now which does make a difference! The signals are alot more accurate if you display proper swing technique! Another thing is now that I have learned how and what the ground balancing actually does I am able to get way better performance out of the machine! Its the small things that I keep learning that make all the difference in determining If its trash or a dig me signal! The past two weeks have been amazing! I can trust my machine and read whats in the ground before I dig it! I can also tell what the machine wants or what adjustments need to be made! For a long time I would get a faint signal and think that it was just a deep target that could be a coin! They where always just smaller targets like a little piece of foil or aluminum! If there is a coin down there the T2 will tell you! Even if they are deep you will stll get a clear signal! The number may read a little low or jump some but the audio wont lie! I am FAR from mastering this machine and every day I am learning more and more! I cant imagine what I will be able to do with the T2 in another month! Dont get me wrong you dont have to be an expert to use the T2 by any means! Its just that once you really learn what it likes and how you like to run it, the T2 will do amazing things for you too! If you are considering making an upgrade from a beginner machine like I did I would highly recommend the T2! You can absolutely just turn it on and go find the good stuff! Learning how to use all the features will just give you that much more control and accuracy! If you buy a T2 and dont think its all its cracked up to be dont get dicouraged! Keep using it and then go back and read the manual! You too will see the light too! Thank you TEKNETICS for providing me with one BAD ASS MACHINE!!! I love my T2!!!

Great write up and reminder, justin. The same holds true with about every detector. It is a never ending learning process. Good luck! HH jim tn

Thanks Jim!!! Now that Ive become familiar with the detector I have been finding so much more good stuff! I found my first gold ring today along with a 1947 rosie a 1921 wheat a 1928 wheat and a silver locket! I was only out for 2 hrs! I dont ever seem to pull targets more then 7 or 8 in deep though. Every now and then Ill get a deeper signal. Im thinking that its just because the places I hunt are usually trashy and the ground prevents me from getting any deeper! I cant complain though 7 or 8in is all the deeper the coins usually are anyway. Im so happy with this detector!

Cool!! I've been digging for well over 30 years, and have hunted with many machines. In recent years, I've purchased many makes and models to just see what they would do, especially when I got a good deal on a machine. I bought a new T2 last year, and lost any interest in buying other machines. No more detector purchases in the near future for me. I'm also very happy with the stock coil, and don't need another coil for it. Very satisfied!

I totally agree with you dirt poor! I am extremely happy with the T2! I have the sef, 5in DD, and the stock coils! The stock coil is still my favorite without a doubt! I was using the SEF for a while and thought I liked it better but when I put the stock coil back on I relized that its def the best one for the T2! I havent tried the small SEF coil I would love to try that one because the one I got works great its just way to big for an all around coil! I use the stock coil about 90% of the time now! If its really trashy and Im having trouble with the stock coil Ill switch to the 5DD! The 5DD is a must have if you hunt really trashy areas! Its so accurate and you can pull coins out right next to other Iron or trash! It doesnt get as much depth but if you run the machine as hot as possible it def goes deep enough! Ive found alot of good stuff with the DD!
