I met a man today with a detector...

who was a complete grouch. I pulled into a school down the road from our house and there was a guy detecting on the other end of the field. I watched him for about five minutes to make sure he was going to stay where he was, wanted to give him all the space he needed. Well, I thought I would get out and stay on my end of the field, after working about 25 minutes I felt a small jab in the back turned around and here was this guy all red faced waving his arm and detector saying " I've been here a couple days now and you ain't gonna find a thing, I cleaned out that spot yesterday" He says " got me the top of the line machine and you come here with a toy" I just smiled and he walked away. Ok, he comes back five minutes later and says "look here" and shows me about three dollars and a chunk of sterling bracelet, I say nice finds and he asks to see what I found and I just say not as many quarters as you. He starts jumping all around and says "I knew it that toy ain't worth a bucket of sand, come on show me I'm lying" I figure this guy needs a nose rubbin but I did not want to make any harder on him than needed to be. I told him if he would be a little more nice to people with the same hobby I would show him, he said maybe he would. I pulled out my finds he looked them over, handed them back and said "me and my big mouth" Couple of goodies, 10k and sterling

Good thing you used common sense and good manners with him. Nice finds by the way, like the ring very cool looking.

The ring is a beauty, and the silver bird is very cool! Congrats Lee.

I din't get your report from the weekend yet?

Buay paying bills and doing chores. Starting cleaning finds tonight, should have the rest done tomorrow and will post then. Nothing super special, but a couple a good surprises. Stay tuned.

Congrats on the beautiful ring....very, very nice one! The sterling bird is pretty too! Is it the Phoenix?? Well, you showed him that he had not cleaned out the area! Maybe he'll keep his big mouth shut and be nicer to people now!
 God Bless! Betty

Thanks everyone, Just wish he would have stuck around long enough for the word or prayer

I'm sorry, I use a Tesoro Cibola with just a standard coil

Smile, Great find, I like the Ring! I was to tired after work yesterday, my arm was killing me from three days of detecting. Plus I got my first letter from AARP ha ha, someone is trying to tell me something.

nothing to be sorry about Lee. The sorry one is the other guy. I heard the Cibola is a real good detector...ain't no toy for sure.
Congrats on those finds Lee.

It may be worth your while to have a jeweler check the stones for value.
Mark

I love the ring - those stones are gorgeous. What did you clean it with?
and everything else you found is great. sure hope that guy thinks twice about how he treats fellow hobbyists.

On real gold I just use a very soft tooth brush and a little tooth paste.

That is a beutiful ring I also really like the bird . :clapping:
I have heard alot of good things about tesoro , but have never used one. i almost bought a deleon , but bought an x-terra 50 instead. Sometimes still wonder if I made the right decision.:poke:

Great finds, and you handled the situation the correct way. There is always someone out there that has to be a wise guy. The old me would have handled it a little differently, but thank God I am not he old me, but the new me through Christ.
