I named a car after the Ace 250

I took up pinewood derby racing about 6 months ago. There are proxy races where you send your cars and they are raced for you. I watch the races live on the computer. I named a car Ace 250. I figured you could see my other hobby and still be on subject. These cars are going to the Nationals in North Carolina. The race is Saturday night. If you would like to see more cars and race videos you can go to p-d-d-r.com I don't know if the site will get scrambled.

Now that kind of racing looks like a lot of fun. I have never heard of such a thing before. Good luck with your entries.

Good luck khouse!!

John,
It's something you can do when you can't detect. I ran onto proxy racing by researching speed tricks. Some of these guys have been racing for 30 years. The Jewkes brothers are the worlds fastest. We run on their track. That car on the very left has micro tiny wheel bearings. I have a lot to learn and get whipped quite often.

It it pretty cool. The Ace 250 should be pretty fast. If the Ace 250 does well maybe Charles will put it in the museum!

I did that in the cub scouts. I built my car pretty much by myself and when I got to the competition and had to face all those silm downed cars with lead weights my car only won one preliminary race between 5 or 6 cars all blocky like mine. Next race I got smoked.

Oddly, I have a metal detector named Pinewood Derby Car. (Sorry about that.)

Tungsten is the weight of choice now. In 42 feet of track only 2 inches separates the 10 fastest cars. I think the Ace 250 is fast in the field. We'll see how fast it is on the track.

I looked at a few vids on the site you posted. Things sure have changed. I think when I did it the track was wooden.

The first time I sent my cars there I thought I was going to tear it up! I came in last place of about 36 cars. It's the best fun you can have with 7 inches of wood!

I'm sure that pun makes it's way around the Pinewood Derby circuit. I have a reply but this board is not the proper place. My Mom still has my car on a bookshelf in her home. Blue with a gold pinstripe. Missing a wheel.

If it couldn't win in 1973 what chance does it have today? I guess it's a classic now.
