If there is no visible set screws on the knobs they are probably just pressed on. That is my guess.

On the one I have, remove the very top of the knob. Underneath is a phillips head screw. The cap on the knob is hard to see but it is there. These knob a very superior to push on or allen head screw secured ones in my opinion.

Usually don't need to remove the knobs unless your replacing the pot. On my Tesoros I take the front plate off and clean the bots inside. They do get grungy over time. Use contact cleaner for them made for pots like Deoxit.

Maybe this will help, even though the guy is speaking German.
I think he explains it very well: you should use a small, sturdy cloth.
So, if your knobs aren't screwed on, follow this procedure to be safe and avoid damaging anything.

Mine were slipping because the screw in the middle was lose and would keep going like a 3 ¾ turn ones on Tesoro's except the pointer would be wrong on the dial. The cap on top his very hard to see but it will come off. It was very easy to recalibrate, turn it to one limit or the other, align the pointer and tighten the screw. It is very precise. I believe my 5 pin was one of the first versions of the X. Later knobs were too big and the replacement later the pointer was pretty wide so not as precise. My version is the only one I know for sure about. It had a fine white line across the top and down the side and a sharp pointer at the bottom. There was an even finer white line around the bottom. Otherwise it was all black. I have never seen another one anywhere, even searching knobs on the internet.

That’s only partly true, though, PW.
There are potentiometer knobs that simply push on.
And with potentiometers that have a splined shaft, it can sometimes happen that you have to loosen the potentiometer itself to get the knob's indicator into the correct position.
You then have to tighten the potentiometer back up afterwards.
I imagine Moose knows from looking at the replacement knobs that they don't have a set screw.

I know there are knobs that push on splined shafts. Mine are not. I didn't have to rotate the potentiometer, the knob just turned on the shaft until I figured out that removing the cap and tightening the screw was the answer. The set screw on mine is invisible until you take the cap off the top of the knob and the cap is almost invisible. If I tried to wedge mine off the shaft, something would break. Again, there is no set screw visible on my knobs but they won't come off by prying, cloth or not. I tried until I got scared. l noticed a small line where the cap and the knob might be two separate pieces and they were. I turned the shaft to the stop, lined up the pointer, tightened the screw in the middle which pulled the knob down tight and I was good to go.
