I need some opinions of the Quattro

I am looking to get back into the hobby after several years and a buddy of mine has offered to sell me a lightly used Quattro. I had an Exp 2 and my understanding is that the Quattro is a simplified version of the Exp. I want to know how the 2 machines compare. Although I would love another Explorer I also like the idea of a simpler machine with less bells and whistles. I am mostly interested in coin hunting. Any helpful info would be appreciated.

I have never used a Explorer but I own and use an Quattro. From what I understand that Quattro will go as deep as an Explorer. I have found many deep coins including a silver quarter at 9 inches with my 6 inch coil which is plenty deep for me. The one thing I would like to have on my Quattro that the Explorer has is the Iron Mask feature. If you decide to buy the Quattro I would recommend buying Andy Sabischs' Quattro/Safari handbook. If I ever decide to upgrade from my Quattro to an Explorer I will definity keep my Quattro.

Thanks John. What would a nice used Quattro be worth? I have looked on Ebay and the classified section on here and cannot find one for sale.

Quattros are nice for sure. Every bit as deep as explorers. Snag it for a good price if you can.

I can make you a awesome deal on a new Minelab Safari with full warranty! Let me know if you have questions or need a great deal! Thanks, Bart.

My guess would be between $300 and $400 depending how nice it is.
