Will I broke down today and order a WOT the excelerator 18

I have the 18" excelarator coil and I haven't found anything crazy deep with it yet. The deepest thing I've found was a big copper at about 9-10 inches, the signal was repeatable and it did ID.
It is heavy but it covers alot of ground. It is very sensitive to small targets, I don't think it's at a disadvantage there.
I heard alot of good things about the depth that you get with the WOT although I never used one personally.
I think that you made a good choice.

is it a 18 or 15 i use only the 15 its my main coil its worth it ive been using it for about 3 or 4 years now and yes dimes at least 15 or more good clear sound if your gain is at 8 or 10 thats real important forget the depth gauge and let the tone and box tell you great buy youll love it its real sens in man so be carefull not to bump it to hard i heard you can buy a clear cover im going to get one just so sticks and stuff doesnt get stuck in the double d's. good luck and good purchase.

I have an 18" excelerator and no you will not miss the small objects. I feel that I am getting 1 to 2 extra inches depth, comparable to the WOT. It is a beast to swing for an extended period of time and I do worry about it breaking the lower shaft but so far so good. Honestly I wish I had bought the WOT mainly due to the 18" weight. I think I would use the WOT more than I use my Excelerator.

Just my 2 cents worth but I spent a lot of time in the same park last year getting to know my new EX II. Covered damn near every square inch of it with the stock 8" and 10.5" coils. Found just about everything there was to find (I thought). Then I purchased the WOT and commenced to cover it again. I found just as much if not more than I did with the stock coils. Pretty much sold me on it and worth every penny I paid!

Just ordered the WOT yesterday! I haven't posted for a long time, but frequent the board often. Thanks to the folks who take the time to post their finds, and manage to keep those of us who aren't as productive inspired!!! I love my explorer xs, and I love this hobby. I got the detecting bug over 26 yrs. ago, and it has grown into a passion that has outgrown my other hobbies. i.e. fishing, hunting, etc... I found my 1st ever seated dime this past year, and within 3 months, found my 2nd seated dime. (An 1876) I finished the yr. 2004 with an 1887 I.H. penny. I find silver most everytime I go hunting now. The WOT and the explorer should make for some very productive hunts!

The wonderful orange thing (WOT) has its place and time. I can't yet say it will go any deeper than the standard 10.5" Minelab coil. Because in my area the old coins are only 6-9 inches deep, and we verified the standard coil will easily pick them up. I have found the WOT really hits coins on edge better than the standard coil. Naturally you can cover more ground faster. It is hard on my sissy tennis elbow. But hour for hour in the field, I normally will find more with the WOT, in not very trashy areas. MY BIG GRIPE with the WOT coil is, it gets hung up with every little piece of stiff anything on the ground. If someone would manufacture a coil cover that covers ALL the coil, it would hang up less and be much more pleasurable to swing.
Just my 2.37 cents worth.
