I should start there

Hi, I'm new to gold detectors. I bought a gpx5000. I have a question to ask you, which place should I choose, the ancient gold rush creek or the nearby mountains? Where should I start? I'm in the asia-pacific region

Start in the creeks--hunt both sides and up the banks looking for old gravel deposits that sit ABOVE present creek bed. Hunt up any little feeder creeks that feed into the main creek. Keep us posted on your finds.Good luck.
