I think I am starting to understand this machine

I have been playing with the different settings, trying conductive vs ferrous signals, reading Andy's book and last night I went through a lot of your old posts and finally started hearing the difference between good and bad signals in ferrous. I dug a lot ( I mean a LOT) less pulltabs and got this nice little pendant which showed as foil ( I am crossaving so I have icons but ferrous sounds) about 4" down in a park. It's 18K and has 1 diamond that tested good.

I think we can all look back and remember The Day that everything finally clicked into place with our Safaris. I thought I was doing good until that day but all of a sudden I just started to understand what the machine had been telling me all along. My wife even asked 'didnt you just hunt that same spot last week' as I was pulling coin after coin out of it. Yep, but last week I Didnt Get It.

Nice pendant!

Nice finds Ty. I don't cross-save that much anymore and icons don't aid in my decision to dig, so I pretty much hunt in relic mode (ferrous) which allows silver to sound a tad more sweeter than it does in the conductive mode of coin or c/j .
