I think my CZ-3D has a problem

I loved the performance I got from the CZ5 but after using the C$ I could never go back to it. The C$ beats the CZ in my ground for depth and seperation ability.

I agree with Jackpine Savage. I watched my buddy pull wheaties directly from underneath trash with the C$; talk about target separation. His "secret" was to listen for repeatable high tones and not watch the numeric ID since it jumped around so much. His Lesche was buried often up to the handle digging the deepies. The first outing in his own backyard netted several mercs and wheaties that he never found with an Explorer, DFX and a Tesoro to name a few; I never got the machine back, just a nice check in the mail .But for me I'm still most comfortable with the CZ-70 with no discrimination so I can hear it all. I'm now trying the 70 in the salt mode at old sites since I started finding oldies that I missed in the normal mode .

Hey Christopher, What were your settings, when you compared the CZ-70 to your buddy's C$? Can you post your settings, and also, were they the same settings, when you accidentally found a coin with the CZ-70 in Salt Mode? Many thanks, NamVetLesTreasureSeeker

The site we were at was an 1838 Greek Revival farmhouse front yard minus the house with generally 10-12 inches of black topsoil before you hit clay. I always hunt at this site with a sensitivity of 6, nothing notched, ID mode, Volume 10 with groundbalancing using the pinpoint method. I just happened to have hit the salt mode button with the rest the same. I've had two CZ-70's(the first was ruined by a leaking refrigerator filter in my former old house basement)that I've used at this site. I have found that at a sensitivity of 4 I was missing ALOT of deeper targets. I experimented by swinging over the exact same ground at 4 and then 6. I have pulled coins at 10-12 inches(at 6). All of the IH's were no more than 2-4 inches(they almost always seem more shallow than most other old coins). As for the C$, I know the sensitivity was at 2, nothing notched, as for threshold I couldn't tell you. I've also tried notching out iron(boy was it much easier on the ears at this iron infested several acre site) and just digging high coin signals knowing that most of the time it was probably iron but now I could hear the high coin, particularly the faint signals better, with some success.

The ground is still frozen here in Northern Ohio so it's always nice to see a pic of any coin right now in my opinion.

Hey Christopher, Many thanks for taking the time to answer my post. I haven't tried using Sensitivity at 6 yet, because of some earlier posts, and I'm still new with my CZ-70Pro. I just got it the end of July 2004, and didn't start to use it until Oct.2004. I'm mainly a beach/water hunter, and I have (3) water detectors, that I use. I bought my CZ-70Pro for land hunting only. I'm just on my 2nd set of batteries. Take care, hh, NamVetLesTreasureSeeker
