I took my 6 year old grandson on his first detecting trip.....

My granddaughter Anika is an old hand at detecting and has found a lot of loot, even gold and silver, in her hunting with me. Zakary has never had the patience to try to swing the detector with me. Today he wanted me to take him somewhere to try using the detector for himself. He must have grown up a little over the long winter. I took him out for about 45 minutes to hunt the barkchips at a near-by school.

Here he is in action.

He did not swing the coil more then two times and got his very first find, some kind of heavy love token.

In just a moment more he had his first ever coin find, a mighty zinc penny!! WOW! Who needs DIV hunts?

Next he had his first ever jewelry find, an ear ring with a silver hook.

After his first hunt we spread out the loot and he had a nice pile, and a nice smile. I hope this makes his adopted Cajun Pap-Pa Elson proud. :)

Here is the loot all laid out, and every one a "First" I hope he hits gold on the next trip. He is still wearing that basket ball necklace as I write this. DC
