I use a piece of cardboard

When digging a hole in a nice lawn, I unfold a piece of cardboard I carry in my Garrett backpack to place the dirt on.
Makes filling in the hole easier, neater.

Great idea!:detecting:

I do the same thing with a foot piece of 8 inch wide white vinyl house siding. If you bend it in the middle length wise it will make a perminate crease. Then when your done bend and pour dirt back into hole, then replace top plug, pat down, brush grass with hand.NEVER had a problem detecting on lawns.Usually I get a com met like gee your very neat It makes it easier to get on the next site.
Joe.

I use an old bandana to put dirt on, but cardboard is a good idea too
