No on-site pics. All pics were taken after I was home:ninja:
Remember to click on the pics for awesome view.

I was back in 3 cent land and having a rather slow day. Best find after roughly 4 hours was a 1941 nickel in my dollars worth of cruddy clad found while looking for the old stuff.
Then I got a nice sounding hit that was in the low 70's vdi. It sounded too good to be a bottle cap, so I was thinking it was a penny or possibly a silver ring. After digging down about 5 inches between a rock and a root, out popped this.

Well, that made me pretty happy, but that's not the end of the story:smoke: While I was struggling between the rock and root to get the coin out, I could tell there was a hollow area below the coin. I was afraid whatever was givin me the signal was gonna drop down outta my reach.(yes, I would have gone after it, but It would've meant digging a new hole off to the side of the root and probably dealing with more roots ). Luckily, I got the coin out without it dropping.

Being the seasoned detectorist that I am:lol: , I didn't need to be reminded to stick the probe back in the hole to see if there was anything else. Sure enough, I was getting a weak signal deeper and off to the side of where the first coin was. I couldn't get my digging tool in there, so I had to squeeze my hand between the all the obstacles and dig with my fingertips. I was only removing a little dirt at a time, but every time I checked, the signal kept getting stronger.
After literally 15 minutes, I finally had the signal in my fingertips.
An 1864 Indian head

I stuck the Dx1 probe back in the hole and was still getting a signal:smoke:
After feeling around, I got this in my fingertips.

Yep, a second two center. Both are 1865's.
I believe the Indian head and second two center where up against each other all these years. If you look at the 2 center's patina just around the edge , I think you can tell where the IH was sitting on it.

Here they are before cleaning.

And after. Notice the lack of patina on this side of the one 2 center and the IH

I gotta say I'm pumped about these coins:super: They're great coins (i like 2 centers) and in awesome shape.
Until next time,
:beers:
