I went and got myself a F-70!!

It came with the 5x10 and 11" dd coils it seems like a pretty well built machine and in comparison to my CZ it seems to go as deep which is a good thing!! I will read the owners manual a couple times to try to familiarize myself with all it's settings. I like how light it feels and it seems to have a pretty fast response. If you guys mind to share what settings you use to find the deep coins pass it on. I am going to try it out maybe tomorrow to see how it handles my soil. I believe it will definetly get the job done!

Junior, you sound like you know what your doing, so it should be no trouble for you to set it up to run smooth and stable by adjusting the sens and thresh. . Pick out a tone mode that your ears seem to like is about the only advice I have. There will be some others along shortly with more details for deep silver, I'm a cladstabber and quickbroomer predominately, so I run a low sens (60ish) and -3 thresh. HH!

Thanks Mud yeah I've been swinging a detector for about 20 years not many brands I haven't used. I just have always felt more confident swinging Fisher detectors. If your not confident in the detector your swinging your more apt to give up and not hunt as often. With a Fisher in hand I tend to hunt and find a lot more due to the confidence factor. They seem a lot simpler to use and they get down deeper. And another perk about Fisher detectors is that they are affordable and they seem to perform just as good if not better than a brand that costs 3 times more.

Congrats on the F70. I received mine maybe 5-6 weeks ago and
I really like it.

There are a few old timers on the board that I'm sure will chime in
to give some tips.

If you do a search a few of them posted the settings they use.

I'd take you to task on the depth comparison between the F70 and the CZ's to be sure. I've hunted one field and found many deep silver there with the CZ5 that did not even chirp on the F70. In most cases the dirt was fairly clear and clean too. Had the F70 at max power as well, was doing side-by-side comparisons on signals. Looking to see if those faint clear repeatables from the CZ would show up on the F70. Only at max power in at mode as a tiny blip.

Then again I've run the F70 at places where the CZ no longer can pick the silver out of the trash and VOILA! Shiny coins! So I will use both in some places, but for the most part they each are used on a site-dependent basis.

Tim that was just air testing it against my CZ not actual in ground results. I figure the F-70 will get the job done since silver coins around here are usually around 6-7" deep max. Now there's quite a few rusty nails past that depth that my CZ will lock on to and make you think it's silver.

As far as threshold on these F-70's what the best setting that keeps it quieter when operating? Also when running in SL mode what do you set it at? I know the SL mode makes it a little more chatty but it says it gives you more depth.

I run negative all the time...-3 or -2...Zeek and me tried -5 for a while last year and it worked just fine in really trashy bottlecappy sites, but again, we are cladstabbers. I get deep finds on the beach going neg, 8"+ on a Q or D is not uncommon, but I think it depends on the soil too...I've not tried SL mode yet, and probably never will unless I'm relic hunting in clean ground and want to hit very deep. I guess just set up your normal program, GB, and gently lower the sens and thresh until you lose the chatter, you will still hit as deep as you want. You gotta hear them targets to get them, and too much chatter or falsing at the end of the sweep really is annoying..
